NICK Morris has warned what remains of the Swindon team to bring their gating gloves for this evening’s visit to Leicester.

The Robins travel to Beaumont Park for the first time after the Lions were elevated to the top division over the winter, meaning many established Elite League stars have little knowledge of the tight circuit.

Morris, however, has gained a reputation as something of a track specialist after a string of impressive displays there in the Premier League with Somerset, and knows making the start is going to be vital.

“It’s always hard going to away meetings and it’s even harder when not many of the team have seen the track before,” he said.

“It’s pretty tight coming into the corners so hopefully we can make some starts, because it’s a good one if you can get out in front.

“I’ve been okay there in the past so hopefully I can do that again.”

Morris will be the only heat leader in the Swindon team today, with Peter Kildemand and Troy Batchelor on GP qualifying duty and rider replacement and an as yet uncomfirmed guest booked to replace them.

The 20-year-old is pleased with how he’s performed after stepping up to heat leader for the first time this season, but is less pleased with his second tier form as the Rebels’ number one.

“It’s been good at Swindon and I am pretty happy, because I thought I might struggle at the start of the season,” he said.

“Things are a bit harder than last year at Somerset but I’ll get through that and I will be fine.”
