MY fellow Wiltshire player James Vince is in unbelievable form for Hampshire at the moment and you’d think there must be and England call-up in the offing soon.

To reach 1,000 county championship runs at this stage of June is a fantastic achievement and Vincey just makes batting look so easy.

Vincey has got to be close to getting the call from England and I wouldn’t be surprised if you at least saw him in a squad very soon.

He’s just a quality player and the way he bats he makes bowlers look silly.

Having scored the runs he has this season, I cannot believe he is not knocking on the door.

England drew the first Test against Sri Lanka this week and Vincey might have been a bit disappointed not to have been involved yet, but you’d have to think it’s coming.

It was another fine knock – a double century no less (240) – by Vincey in this week’s championship match against Essex.

It’s been a pleasure watching the boys get the job done inside three days. It was a convincing win and we’re top of the table now and looking good.

Ours is a very happy dressing room at this moment in time and long may it continue.

If we can beat Gloucestershire in the T20 on Friday we could go top of that table and there is still the 50-over competition to come.

As for myself, I’m five weeks into my injury rehab now – and it is getting a bit tedious.

We’re pushing it quite hard now and it is tough on the body but you have to work the groin muscle as hard as you can.

Hopefully, I might be able to play a club game on June 28 or July 5 and then maybe a second-team game as I work my way back.
