MIKE Coles would love to be the captain of the side that ends Wiltshire’s wait to win the Unicorns Knockout Trophy – but is refusing to look any further than next month’s semi-final with old rivals Oxfordshire.

Wiltshire booked their place in the last four of the competition with a three-wicket victory over Norfolk at Corsham on Sunday.

Coles’ men, yet to taste defeat in any form of the game in what is proving to be a stellar 2014, will travel to face Oxfordshire on Sunday, July 13, with a place in the August 27 final at stake against either Devon or Cheshire.

Wiltshire have reached the final three times in the 31-year history of the competition but have yet to lift the prize, losing out to Cumberland – who bowed out in Sunday’s quarter final against Oxfordshire – in 2012.

Sunday’s triumph over Norfolk –- the side that beat them in the 2005 final – was an eighth on the trot for the county and they comfortably defeated Oxfordshire in the three-day Minor Counties Championship last week.

Coles said: “It would be fantastic (to win the trophy) but it will be a tough game against Oxfordshire.

“It will be completely different to the three-day game, but it will be a good chance to go up there and play against them again when we’re pretty much full of confidence.

“We’re playing some really good cricket and everyone is enjoying it and chipping in. We got to the final three years ago but we won’t be looking beyond Oxfordshire.’’
