ESTIDHKAAR will attempt to give the Richard Hannon team a third successive victory in the July Stakes at Newmarket next month.

The son of Dark Angel stepped up on a promising debut effort at Goodwood to run out a good winner of a seven-furlong maiden at Newbury on Thursday.

Estidhkaar will now go for the Group Two Portland Place Properties July Stakes on July 10, a race his owner Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum has won for the last two years with Alhebayeb and Anjaal.

They were the last two of six winners in the race for Richard Hannon senior with his son and his namesake now holding the licence.

"I was shell-shocked when he was beaten on his debut, so Newbury was no surprise, and we like him a lot," the Collingbourne Ducis trainer told www.richardhannonracing.co.uk.

"I was impressed with the way he knuckled down and found a bit more when the second came at him, and he looks just the right type for the July Stakes."
