CAPTAIN Mike Coles is delighted that cricket fans in Wiltshire are getting behind his county side as their superb season continues.

Wiltshire, unbeaten as they breezed through their group in the Unicorns Knockout Trophy, carried their fine one-day form into their Championship Western Division opener against Oxfordshire this week, cruising to a crushing ten-wicket victory at Banbury.

The county take on Norfolk in the quarter-finals of the Trophy this weekend and Coles is hoping that his team can continue to make their spectators proud at Corsham on Sunday (11am).

“There were a few guys that came to watch us in Oxfordshire and it’s nice that people around Wiltshire are getting on board with us whilst we’re doing well,” said the Wiltshire skipper.

“Our confidence is still really high and it’s important we carry on doing our best so we don’t let down those people that are following us.

“We always get a turnout at Corsham and hopefully we’ll get a decent-sized crowd there again on Sunday.

“It’s a quarter-final, which is a one-off opportunity to try and put in your best possible performance. Hopefully we can do that and can look forward to a good trip somewhere in the semi-finals.”
