THE Wiltshire Boys’ Championship trophy will stay in the Amor family for another year after 16-year-old Jamie claimed the title for a second time in three years.

Two solid rounds by Amor saw him succeed his older brother Ben as the new champion, claiming the title ahead of Cumberwell Park’s Rhys Edwards.

The Marlborough teenager carded two rounds of 74, to pip Edwards by two shots while Broome Manor’s James Wiltshire was third on countback despite leading the field after the opening round.

Amor’s success means he will now go on to represent Wiltshire in the Junior Champion of Champions tournament at Woodhall Spa in September where he will be joined by brother Ben who will play in the Champion of Champions event the same weekend after winning the Senior County Championship recently.

l Ogbourne Downs enjoyed a successful day at High Post in the Wiltshire Divisional Championships, winning all three divisions and the team event.

Club captain Geoff Sparrow led by example scoring 35 points to secure the Stonehenge Cup ahead of West Wilts’ Dharma Gurung by a single point.

Gary Brown carried on from Sparrow’s effort, clinching the White Horse Cup by two shots from Manor House’s Martin Chapman-Kelly with 38 points.

Max Cheesley made it a treble for Ogbourne as he scored 37 points to pip Salisbury’s Steve Tilley by two shots to clinch the Kennet Cup.

And their efforts were more than enough to take victory in the team competition, the Combes Salver, as the notched up a superb 110 points - some 12 poinst ahead of nearest rivals and hosts High Post. Wiltshire trio of Paul Dimond, Christopher Jones and Raymond Smith were third after scoring 95 points.
