SKIPPER Mike Coles doesn’t see any reason why Wiltshire can’t go all the way in this season’s Unicorns Knockout Trophy.

Wiltshire booked their place in the knockout stages of the Minor Counties one-day competition by notching up their third straight victory in the competition last weekend with a 37-run triumph over Dorset in Bournemouth.

Wiltshire were beaten finalists in the 2012 trophy and Coles thinks his in-form team have every chance of progressing again this year.

“Our objective at the start of the season was to try and get through to the knockout stages and we’ve achieved that now,” he said.

“It’s a series of individual games now and we know that we’re more than a match for anyone on our day.

“If we can keep playing the way we are, then I don’t see any reason why we can’t get all the way to the final and even win the competition.”

After guaranteeing qualification from Group One with a game to spare, Wiltshire turn their attentions to securing a home quarter-final tie.

Victory over Wales, who have yet to win a match this summer, at Warminster on Sunday would be enough to qualify as group winners.

Coles said: “I think that if we get a home quarter-final, it will be at Corsham and that’s great because we always get really good support there.

“Now we’re focusing on trying to get a result against Wales this weekend to make that happen.”
