WILTSHIRE cyclist Pete Kibble finished second overall while representing his Sports Traider race team at the Isle of Man Youth Tour.
The 16-year-old, who lives in the hamlet of New Zealand, near Calne, was originally placed third but was upgraded after the discovery of a glitch in the timing system.
The opening stage was a time trial along Douglas Promenade, where Kibble was just three seconds behind the winner.
Stage two was a very hilly 36-kilometre race and, with two laps remaining, Kibble attacked on the steepest hill which strung the field out.
Within minutes though, the race was halted, due to a serious accident in the girls’ race which was taking place on the same circuit.
After 30 minutes, the boys’ race was restarted with two laps remaining and, on the last-lap uphill sprint to the line, Kibble finished third.
This moved the Wiltshire rider into second overall, just a second behind leader Ethan Hayter and a second ahead of Matty Walls, in third.
The final flat-race stage saw Kibble’s Sports Traider team dominating.
Kibble attacked out of the final hairpin turn and sprinted 350 metres to the line, finishing sixth.
