CALNE Running Club’s Simon Nott stormed to a new course record as he claimed victory in Sunday’s Corsham St George’s 10k event.
The event, which attracted more than 1,000 runners, was the second in this year’s Wiltshire Road Race League, sponsored by Newsquest, the parent company of the Gazette & Herald.
Nott blitzed the field to finish in 31 minutes and 12 seconds, nearly three minutes clear of Michael Towler, of Avon Valley Runners.
A strong Avon Valley presence, with more than 60 athletes in the field, secured maximum league points to maintain their lead at the top of the Division One standings.
Gary Dunstone, of Chippenham Harriers, who finished sixth, is the overall leading individual points scorer.
In the ladies race Helen Newbury, of Bristol & West AC, was first home.
Denise Grech, of Calne Running Club, was the first Wiltshire athlete and, despite Team Bath B taking maximum points, Calne remained top of Division Two.
Kate Wilkins, of Devizes Running Club, who finished eighth is the top ladies points scorer.
The next Race League event is the Trowbridge 5K on Sunday (May 4).
