CORSHAM Academy’s Elizabeth Bools will create a piece of club history on Sunday when she steps out for Wiltshire’s women’s team against Shropshire.

The 14-year-old wicketkeeper and opening batsman will become the first girl from the Corsham club to be selected for the full Wiltshire side when she takes her place in the team at Bridgnorth CC.

Bools, who lives in Melksham, and goes to St Augustine’s Catholic College in Trowbridge, has been a member of the Corsham Academy for five years.

An accomplished footballer – she plays for Melksham Town’s U15s and U16s and Swindon Town’s Centre of Excellence U16s – she also boxes at Trowbridge Academy of Boxing and has won three fights out of four.

Academy coach John-Paul Story said: “Elizabeth is extremely determined and has put in many hours of extra practice in the nets on her own to earn this opportunity.

“Corsham has quite a number of girls representing the county at different age groups and we’d like Elizabeth's success to be an inspiration not just to the players at our club, but to aspiring female cricketers across Wiltshire.’’
