TWO Brazilian trialists and another from Spain played for Swindon Town in a development XI clash with Charlton Athletic on Wednesday.

The unnamed trio were part of a Town team which were beaten 2-0 by their south east London hosts, with Joe Piggott netting both goals for the Addicks.

Swindon manager Mark Cooper admitted it is hard for any trialist to impress at such short notice, telling the Advertiser: “It was gametime for the boys who have not featured, one or two young lads played and a couple of trialists.

“One or two people we’ve been wanting to have a look at or we said we’d look at their players. We obviously had a couple of spaces yesterday with the lack of numbers we’ve got and we had a look at them. It’s nothing pressing and nothing imminent.

“They turn up with their boots and shinpads and expect them to play like Ronaldo. It’s difficult for them. You’re looking for there to be something there, even if it’s just their attitude or desire to give everything they’ve got. You’re looking to see if they’re good enough to get in for pre-season for a couple of games.”
