Storey urges Town to play with no pressure

The Wiltshire Gazette and Herald: Swindon Town's Miles Storey Swindon Town's Miles Storey

MILES Storey has stressed the importance of Swindon Town playing without pressure as they go into the weekend looking to extend their recent winning run.

Town head to Notts County in search of their fourth consecutive victory and their seventh in eight League One matches following successes against Bradford City and Coventry City over the Easter weekend.

Though their upturn in form may have come slightly too late to secure a play-off spot, with Peterborough United four points ahead of the Robins in sixth with two games to go, Storey feels he and his teammates have thrived with expectations amongst themselves and the fans lowered.

“There’s no pressure on us, we’re the underdogs really. We’ve got four points to make up so all we’ve got to do is go out there and play,” he told the Advertiser.

“We’ve just got to play with no pressure again. It seems to be when we play with no pressure we do well. When we start to pile it on ourselves maybe we start to panic. The last five out of six games we’ve won now, we’ve just got to keep going.

“If you look at some of the away games earlier in the season, we maybe put a bit too much pressure on ourselves to go and play. Even though the Carlisle game was a bad game, you look at the Tranmeres and that and we’ve done well away from home. Going into next season, if we can keep the majority of the squad here, it will be a great squad.”

I would think anyone out of contract would be under pressure, these last two games should not be taken lightly, Notts County won't be taking it easy that's for sure.
