ALEX Pritchard has played in front of a County Ground crowd for the final time under the terms of his loan agreement.

Pritchard, who has scored eight times in a Swindon Town shirt during his season-long stint in Wiltshire from Tottenham Hotspur, will not be eligible for the Robins when they host Rotherham United on the final day as he turns 21 on May 3 and therefore no longer fits within the criteria for a youth loan.

The midfielder, who produced a dazzling performance for Swindon in their 1-0 win over Bradford City yesterday, will therefore turn out in a red shirt for the last time when Town visit Notts County on Saturday.

“You look at Alex Pritchard – his last home game for the club – he came here a boy and he’s going to go away a man and I’m sure he’ll go on to bigger and better things,” Swindon manager Mark Cooper said after watching Lee Cox score the only goal against Bradford.

“He can only play next Saturday.

“It’s part of his loan agreement, he’s on a youth loan which means he can only be on a youth loan until your 21st birthday. Alex turns 21 next week.”

Meanwhile, Cooper revealed that contract discussions have begun with defender Troy Archibald-Henville.

The centre-back played for the second time in four days yesterday – an uncommon occurrence as he manages an ongoing knee condition – and Cooper explained: “Troy’s out of contract, we want to keep him and he’s obviously doing his best to put himself in the shop window and rightly so.

“I think the chairman is speaking to Troy’s people and I’m sure there’ll be more talks in days to come.”

Cooper was pleased with his side’s display against Bradford, saying: “I thought it was a totally dominant performance. You see from kick-off, as soon as the ball goes into play and they get everybody behind the ball you guess what kind of afternoon it’s going to be.

“It’s important that you stay patient and keep hold of the ball. I thought we totally dominated the game and we just had to wait for that opportunity to come along.

“I thought with them being safe they’d have a go but that’s their prerogative.

“I thought we totally dominated the game from start to finish. I was pleased with the maturity we showed to control the game.”
