JACK Stephens says that he would relish the opportunity to return to Swindon Town.

The 20-year-old centre-back is on-loan at the County Ground until the end of the season from Premier League side Southampton.

The youngster has strung together a number of impressive performances for Mark Cooper’s side since his arrival last month.

And while he is tied to the Saints until 2017, Stephens says he is enjoying playing week in, week out.

“It has taught me loads of things, it is a massive experience and it has taught me something every day,” he said.

“ Just being involved with the first team every single day with a match on a Saturday is a great experience.

“It is what I want to be doing, I want to be playing every Saturday, whether it is in the Premiership or League One.

“The players here have helped me fit straight in, it is great.”

Stephens has only featured once for the St Mary’s side, coming off the bench in an FA Cup tie at Coventry City in 2012, but since arriving in Swindon last month he has featured in all six matches.

With the desire to playing regular first team football, should Southampton look for Stephens to gain more experience this is the place he wants to be.

“If the option of going out on loan happens then this is the first place I’d like to come,” he said.

“(I could envisage myself coming back next season) definitely, I have said this before, but it is not up to me.

“I have had nothing but good words to say about this place ever since I have been here.

“The gaffer, the assistant, all the staff, all the players and everyone at the ground have been brilliant and I have let everyone know that I’m really happy here.

“There is lot more pressure, the fans they make a lot of noise, they expect performances and results, but it is great to play every week.”

But like Stephen admits it may not be down the defender to return to the County Ground should the Saints look for him to gain more experience.

Having already impressed in League One, Southampton could look for the England Under 19 international to make the step up to a higher level, while Cooper is yet to discover his budget for next term.
