SPORTS clubs in Wiltshire have received a cash boost of more than £200,000 from Sport England to help them boost their facilities.
The clubs have been granted a share of the £17 million Inspired Facilities Fund which has been helping grass roots organisations refurbish and renew their projects.
Among those to benefit is Wootton Bassett Tennis Club, which has received £50,000 to assist with their relocation to a new site as part of the Wootton Bassett Sports Association's relocation project.
Funds from the sale of the current site will be used to build a new Sports Hub, providing enhanced facilities for cricket and football as well as tennis.
They plan to have eight floodlit courts (currently four), two of which will be marked out for mini tennis and other sports as a Multi-Use-Games-Area (MUGA).
Devizes Amateur Boxing Club will also receive £50,000 to help with the removal of asbestos cladding from their base at Devizes Town Football Club and to improve insulation and heating.
Devizes Canoe Club have also received £50,000 to help them develop facilities for the 100-member organisation, including new changing facilities, a canoe access, boat storage and renovate an existing building as a clubhouse.
Also boosting their changing facilities will be Royal Wootton Bassett RFC, who have received £30,000 to help boosting the heating and hot water facilities in their changing rooms at their new base at Ballards Ash.
Corsham Cricket Club have received £28,765 to improve safety on the boundary between themselves and the town bowls club.
