SWINDON TOWN: Hall set for Town return

The Wiltshire Gazette and Herald: Grant Hall could return to the Swindon Town squad for the weekend visit of Brentford Grant Hall could return to the Swindon Town squad for the weekend visit of Brentford

GRANT Hall will be available for selection when Brentford visit Swindon Town this weekend, provided he emerges through today's development XI fixture intact.

Hall, who has been sidelined for almost two months with a calf injury, played a part as Town beat Bristol Rovers 1-0 in a friendly this afternoon, as Jamie Reckord scored the only goal of the game.

As long as he shows no ill-effects from that outing, Swindon manager Mark Cooper believes the Tottenham loanee will be ready to be considered for selection on Saturday.

“I think after today, if he gets through today, then he will be available for selection and then we have to decide whether we change the three at the back, who have played particularly well," said Cooper.

“It’s no good having 45 players or whatever you have in a squad and knowing that 20 of them can’t really help you. You’re better off having a smaller squad, knowing all of them can play.

“Grant is very similar to the ones we’ve got. The ones we’ve got are all very comfortable on the ball and can run and so is Grant."

I just hope he can rid himself of his demons off the pitch , it doesn't take me to remind everyone of what a great benefit he will be to the team if he can , I'm sure we all realise that.

Reading between the lines I think there are a lot hoping it doesn't happen. I can't comment I haven't seem much of him, but match reports suggested a weak link there.
It may have been too much expected of him, but now with support of the present defenders who have settled down to be a unit and more confidence he could be a better player.

IMO Grant Hall had better games when played as a third defender on the right or left so far this season the few times this did occur.

Anyways, support the player/s who knows what is going on in their head as per today's main article and in absolutely no way is this a suggestion it is with GH.

On another topic and as much as the trolls from the B'muff site p***ed me off big time - fair play to their current league position.

Almost as surprising as ours if some of the earlier and regular diatribe on here were to be actually believed.

What the great Grant Hall? Graham and Dazza how could you cast aspersions? That ever reliable young man that never misses a tackle or gives the ball away, who is so totally dominant in the air and never gets brushed off the ball like he isn't there, that one? So quick and always the right side of his man, never falls over like a clown, real killer instinct when he goes up for corners and such a sublime passer of the ball he makes Hoddle look like a donkey, that one? How could you possibly cast doubt on this stupendous prodigy and future England captain. I'm beginning to suspect you have both been wearing total solar eclipse sunglasses ........ just like me!

I think Spurs need him more than we do so it would be best for us to return him while he is uninjured. Thank you and good bye.

He has had a few reasonable games and maybe does need that extra body around him - what I definitely don't want to see is him played left back just to get in the side, was dreadful in that position.
