CARLISLE United’s Brad Potts expects his side to step up their game for the visit of Swindon Town this weekend.

Potts & Co currently occupy the final relegation place in the League One table and are locked level on 40 points with three other sides.

However, having taken points off Wolves, Brentford and Peterborough United at Brunton Park already this term, Potts thinks there is nothing to be scared of when seventh-placed Swindon arrive in Cumbria.

He said: “We’re confident we can beat Swindon. Big teams have come here and we’ve done well against them and we want that to happen again.

“We don’t fear anyone in this league but we know we need to be more clinical in front of goal.

“Kav (Graham Kavanagh, Carlisle manager) has spoken about no one wanting relegation on our CV. It could have a big effect on your career.

“But I’m confident we will pull out of it with the lads and the spirit we’ve got.”

Potts is confident new signing Gary Madine will help Carlisle end their eight-game run without a victory in the Brunton Park clash.

He said: “I was in my first year with the youth team when he was top goalscorer, shortly before he left for Sheffield Wednesday.

“I remember watching him play and seeing how good he was, and it has given everyone a boost for him to come back, because we know what he can do.

“Hopefully he can bring us some goals but it doesn’t matter who gets them as long as we get the results we need.

“When Kav gives me more licence to bomb forward I do like it and feel that’s where I’m at my best.”

Pascal Chimbonda (calf) should return in defence for Carlisle tomorrow, while the Blues are hoping winger David Amoo (hamstring) and Matty Robson (back) could also return.

Striker Lee Miller (groin) is likely to be out again while long-term absentees are keeper Mark Gillespie (knee) and Danny Cadamarteri (knee).
