TROWBRIDGE & DISTRICT LEAGUE DIVISION ONE: Lamb win thriller to move second

First published in Sport

LAMB FC entertained Semington Magpies at Whaddon Lane in midweek and it was Tony Stevens' hosts who came out on top as they edged a seven-goal thriller to keep their slim hopes of finishing as Division One runners up alive.

Lamb who just a few years ago were the whipping boys in Division Three, have made giant strides and after back-to-back promotions, they have a real chance of beating both North Bradley and Westbury United Reserves to second spot.

Tom Blackman gave Lamb the perfect start when he put them one-up but they saw their early advantage wiped out when Dan Rimmer restored parity for Magpies.

Bradley King-Taylor restored the Lamb’s lead and a second for Blackman that took his tally for the season to 20 gave the home team a 3-1 interval lead.

After the break Lamb picked up where they left off from and a second from Bradley King-Taylor should have put the game to bed and the points should have be secured.

However, a battling Magpies side fought their way back into the game and reduced the deficit when Andy Harrison scored from the penalty spot.

Things became slightly nervous for The Lamb when a second from Harrison reduced the gap to the odd goal.

Magpies really should have stolen a point from the game as they missed three good chances in the closing stages.
