SWINDON Robins' season-opening Elite Shield clash with Poole has been postponed due to the threat of rain later this afternoon.

After rain fell on the Blunsdon track last night, the decision has been made by the club's management to call the meeting off early due to the wet weather which is due to arrive early this afternoon and last until just before the scheduled start of the meeting.

Swindon will now open their competitive Elite League season against Lakeside tomorrow night.

Do the bosses at the Abbey now look a little silly? Not a drop of rain all day in West Swindon?

Its about time this sport used some of the sky sports funds and bought some decent covers. They would only need a couple of sets to share amongst the leagues. In the year 2014 it seems Speedway is still in the dark ages. With the fiasco at Coventry Sunday and now a Swindon postponement due to rain was it ?? well what a farce its bone dry this evening. Sort it out or the sport will die.
