FORMER England and British Lions full-back Tim Stimpson presented the trophies and medals at the second of Chippenham RFC’s minis festivals on Sunday.

Stimpson, whose club career also took in spells at Leicester Tigers and Newcastle Falcons, also held training master classes with Chippenham U8s, U10s, U12s players as 76 teams and more than 800 children took part in U7s, U9s and U11s age groups in beautiful weather at Allington Field.

All U7s players received medals as 27 teams from 10 clubs, including the hosts, Corsham, Devizes, Trowbridge, Bradford on Avon and Westbury, played in four different competitions at the festival, sponsored by M + W Group.

Four mixed ability competitions took place at U9 level, Devizes and Corsham among the plate winners in the event.

U11s winners included Chippenham Red (Chief plate), Marlborough (Cherokee shield) and Chippenham Black (Cherokee plate).

U9s Red – Cup winner: Bridgend 1; Shield: Taunton 2; Plate: Devizes 1; Runner up: Battersea Ironsides 1

U9s Blue – Cup winner: Taunton 1; Shield: Battersea Ironsides 2; Plate: Bath 1; Runner up: Old Bristolians.

U9s Yellow – Cup winner: Bradford on Avon 2; Shield: St Peter’s (Cardiff) 2; Plate: Corsham; Runner up: Battersea Ironsides.

U9s Green – Cup winner: St Peter’s 1; Shield: Stow RFC 1; Plate: Salisbury 2; Runner up: Bath 2.

U11s Chief – Cup winner: Bath; Shield: Bradford on Avon; Plate: Chippenham Red; Runner up: Corsham.

U11s Cherokee – Cup winner: Fairford (decided on toss of coin); Shield: Marlborough; Plate winner: Chippenham Black; Runner up: Devizes.
