WES Foderingham expects Swindon Town’s young squad to learn from the trials and tribulations of an up-and-down season and use the experiences to improve in 2014/15.

Foderingham, who has conceded that the League One play-offs are out of reach for the Robins this term, returned to the Town starting line-up after a month-long absence in the goalless draw with Bristol City on Saturday.

The point earned from that fixture left Swindon ninth in the league table and preparing to build again for next season, and the keeper feels the Town squad can only benefit from events of the past eight months.

“I know we keep saying we’ve got a lot of young players but it’s the truth and there’s no running away from that,” he said. “Experience brings a different side to your game and I’m sure all the boys will learn from this season and carry it into next season.

“We obviously want to try to finish as high as we can, we want to try to finish on a high note and finish as high as we can this season.”

Foderingham accepted that the Town dressing room has not been as bubbly as it was at the start of the campaign, saying: “Obviously the changing room is a little bit low. We’re still working hard, we’re putting in the hours on the training pitch but you’ve got to be wary of boys who can’t train too much or play two games in a week when it gets to this stage of the season. There’s a lot of tired legs, so you’ve got to manage that as well.

“We’re trying our best. Although you get one or two people who aren’t happy, we’re exceeding a lot of people’s expectations from the start of the season and I’m sure if we keep working at it we’ll get there in the end.”
