TEN-MAN Swindon Town produced a stoic defensive display in the second period to hold Bristol City to a goalless draw at Ashton Gate.

Town were faced with a mammoth task when Alex Pritchard was sent off with 35 minutes of the match remaining but somehow managed to keep only their second clean sheet in 13 games en route to a point.

A mundane opening 45 minutes gave way to an explosive second period. Jay Emmanuel-Thomas struck a post from a tight angle at the end of a tidy cross from Wade Elliott in the 54th minute before Pritchard saw red 60 seconds later for pushing Elliott to the floor.

Ryan Harley forced Frank Fielding in the City goal into a good save from a free-kick and the home stopper then produced an excellent double save to twice keep out Michael Smith from close range in the 57th minute.

But from that moment on it was all City, who streamed forward in numbers in search of a winning goal.

Sam Baldock, Derrick Williams, Emmanuel-Thomas and Elliott all wasted good chances in front of goal, however and, with Jay McEveley, Troy Archibald-Henville, Jack Stephens and Nathan Thompson immense for Swindon at the back, the visitors held on for a share of the spoils.
