SWINDON midfielder Yaser Kasim says that the players have not given up hope on crashing the League One play-offs.

County Ground boss Mark Cooper suggested following Saturday’s 2-1 defeat to MK Dons, that the end of season lottery is probably put of Town’s reach.

However, the 22-year-old, while not focusing solely finishing sixth or above, believes that there is still a chance - starting with shocking League One leaders Wolves tonight.

“I think from outside, people think it is kind of gone and lets build for next season,” he said.

“But there are still 11 games left, it is about playing games and winning and you never know what can happen.

“They thought that two weeks ago as well and results changed.

“I don’t really necessarily think now ‘oh can we get into play-offs?’ We should be thinking can we win the next game.”

With Town’s form dipping dramatically since the turn of 2014, picking up only 13 points from a possible 36, a visit from the league leaders is going to test Kasim and company to limit.

Kenny Jackett’s men have just broken a club record after winning eight games on the bounce and confidence is sky high, while Town’s could be a little fragile.

“I can’t speak for other players, I think with the lads that we have, they have good banter, around the dressing room it is OK,” Kasim said when asked if confidence is low.

“It has been a learning experience for a lot of people. I’ve never come in and seen people down and crying.

“It is tough, the season itself is very tough, it is nearing its end, and that is a very tough place to be.”
