MARLBOROUGH emphatically buried their disappointment at missing out on a possible Twickenham final by storming to the brink of the Dorset & Wilts Two North title.

It was the second time this season that the Common side, beaten 44-0 in the South West Junior Vase final by Longlevens the previous week, had scored more than a century of points in a match.

Chris Budgen’s side were without captain Jamie Pittams and key backs Rhys Butler and Hugh Sutcliffe but, led by influential second rown Shaun Anderson, were dominant from the first whistle.

The tries flowed and the first went to Matthew Stamp on his first start for the club after a good mis-pass from fly-half Lawrie Woolcott to Laurence Baker put Stamp in to score.

With Dan Porteous dominant in the ruck and with the powerful runs of Jack Lynd and Anderson the home team added a try from Baker after a quick penalty move by scrum-half Amori Nailago.

Lynd also got on the score sheet with three, as did hooker Ben Beanland with a hat-trick, while prop Paul Roberts also touched down.

Anderson crossed himself, with RJ Horwood, whose twin brother Aiden also played, finishing off a break by Nailago and Finlay Kenneth also touching down.
