FOR A lot of golfers, achieving solid contact on golf shots can be difficult.

If you struggle to take divots and hit a lot of shots thin then today’s tip is for you.

The golf club is swung in an arc around the body and you are trying to hit the ball solidly at the bottom of the arc using the sweet spot on the club.

Most golfers who find this difficult do this by adopting an incorrect posture when standing to the ball.

This is where the player is stood too upright to the ball, which creates a swing plane that is too shallow around their body.

This means that the swing doesn’t bottom out at the ball but an inch above it, making it difficult to hit the bottom of the ball let alone find the sweet spot.

If this sounds like you, next time you play, try bending forwards from your hips so that you lower your body’s centre of gravity.

It should feel a bit more like a goalkeeper facing a penalty, or receiving in tennis.

This should be a more balanced posture with your weight favouring the balls of your feet.

This new posture will serve to lower the bottom of your swing so that you can get down to the bottom of the ball.
