MARK Collier is calling on his Chippenham Town players to rediscover their mental strength and put their inconsistency to bed.

The Bluebirds became the first side to slip to defeat at struggling Bashley in the league this season on Tuesday night, crashing 3-1, and Collier is convinced that his team’s ability wasn’t to blame for a dismal reverse in the New Forest.

“I sometimes feel that we have too many good weather players. We’ve got a team of talented players, that get looked at by other clubs, but they don’t show their potential consistently,” said the Chippenham chief.

“We should be able to deal with poor pitches, poor conditions and poor refereeing. The players need to show some resolve and be mentally strong.

“The last thing we said to the boys in the dressing room was ‘remember Totton’ and the feeling after that game (a 3-1 loss in December).

“But our perfomance was poor and the feeling was exactly the same.''
