BARBURY Castle-trained Medermit, off the track since April 2012, features among 11 possibles for the Betfair Ascot Chase on Saturday after the race was reopened.

The Alan King-trained grey was runner-up to Riverside Theatre in this race two years ago but has been sidelined since finishing fourth to in the Betfred Bowl at Aintree 22 months ago.

Riverside Theatre, who was also successful in 2011, was pulled up in the King George VI Chase on his latest start and could go again while his trainer Nicky Henderson also has Hunt Ball.

A prolific winner two seasons ago, the nine-year-old has yet to race for Henderson since returning from a spell in America.

Captain Chris could try to go one better after finishing second to Cue Card 12 months ago in this Grade One contest over two miles five and a half furlongs. Philip Hobbs' charge was an easy winner at Kempton last month.

Paul Nicholls is three-handed with Bury Parade, Kauto Stone and Rolling Aces. Completing the numbers are Cloudy Too, Noble Legend, Sunny Ledgend and Teaforthree.
