With Liverpool 4-0 up at half time against Arsenal, hoping The Town can follow up their excellent midweek performance and get the 3 points. Team Selection will be interesting, i'd bring back Troy to centre back and maybe shove Byrne to left back instead of Reckord who hasn't impressed. Pritch comes back in on the right wing and maybe shunt Gladwin inside to replace Yass (as opposed to Harley who's been poor)

Jacob on the bench, with Miles

Good post and the humble pie being eaten in large chunks tonight with fans too quick to jump down his throat. Credit where it is due and today he got it right with a very attacking side. Yes clean sheets are nice but Vale must have been smarting still from the 5-2 hammering we gave them at the County Ground and as they said on the radio end to end and thrilling game. That is two great comebacks in a week when normally when we concede first its game over. We seem to have that hunger developing and ok may let a few in but as long as we are competing unlike that dross against Oldham then I am happy. I criticized Cooper after that game and he answered that in the best way possible with two fantastic results this week. Superb performance today. Some thoughts....

Loved the 4-4-2 been saying for a while I would like to see that formation with 2 proper wingers and Smith and Ranger up front it worked really well.

All our midfield and full backs were attacking the opposition at speed really getting at them and caused them loads of problems. Created loads of good chances and 55% possession too.

Not only did we want it more we were better technically, when we attack like that we look different class

That's 2 games on the trot Ranger has worked his socks off, hopefully his heads in a good place at the moment he really can be top quality when his minds on it

Liked the look of Murphy, made a difference when he came on. Good feet, pace, and looked to get the shot away. Can see goals and assists from this lad hope we can keep him to the end of the season.

That's the best week in a Town shirt for several players - notably Luongo, Louis and Ranger.

Defence still a bit suspect, goals came from errors again, but not criticising them today as apart from the goals Wes had little to do.

For Posh 2nd leg hope we stick with the 4-4-2, with Mass and Louis in CM, and Murphy in for Danny, and Storey in for ineligible Smith.

Should also give Cooper a mention. After the Oldham fiasco he's also had a great week. Maybe we needed to dip that low to focus some minds. Only 2 games since but you can't fault the effort of the players or the tactics in the two games since so well done to him. Defence obviously needs working on but lets not be too greedy.

The other question for me is can Louis fill the defensive midfielder role we have been clamouring for? The signs look promising......plus Cooper may have struck gold with the 2 of them in centre midfield together. There was more space for them and plenty of width for them as well. Louis filling in for the marauding full backs was noted as well - like he'd been playing the role for years. Mason Harley and Kasim may struggle getting back in the team for a while.

Couldn't agree more regarding the defence. Ward was turned inside out for their goal and their scorer nipped in front of T A-H to score. Both are OK with the play in front of them where they can head or boot clear but both have the speed and turning circle of the QE2.
Having said that I thought the whole teams performance, including Coopers was exactly what was needed yesterday. We picked a team to beat them and the conditions. We played well in both halves and must have had about ten corners in the first, the only difference was we took our chances in the second. Several contenders for MoM but think Pritch shaded it. Byrne looked good at full back too. The Norwich lad looked lively and confident. What a player he'd be if he had two feet.
A Vale supporter complimented me on our performance afterwards and on BBC Stoke several said what a good side we are.

I personally dont think we will make the play-offs, although we have certainly exceeded our expectations under Mark Cooper,
Also the home game against Peterborough United is far from a certainty given their recent upturn in form in the League which is 3 wins in 4., and bearing in mind that although we recently beat them at home, I think they were the better team on the day.

Just to clarify on the 'who was at fault' issue for the 2 vale goals.

First one came from a misjudged Byrne header that went backwards instead of forwards. That drew Wardy out of position to close down the attacker leaving Troy on his own in the middle. The attacker did turn Ward but then the other forward nipped in front of Troy and bagged. Byrne header the main problem, but a smart finish.

Second goal was very fortunate, a Troy clearing header hit a Vale forward and ended up with the unmarked Pope who bundled it just over the line. Maybe not the best clearing header and perhaps Wes could have done better, but very fortunate for Vale.

Other than that the Troy and Ward partnership looked relatively untroubled

Superb result especially after going two down and i thought the worst when i heard we were two down against the run of play. But the team showed some real desire and committment to tirn it around and well done to all the players for the performance and coming to win from behind.
If this team really believes and can put this performance in to our remaining away games this season we could just sneak a play off place. The team MC picked was spot on with loads of attacking options and i only hope we can see more of this in our away games. To win you need to attack which is also the best form of defence. We let two sloppy goals in again which has been the case all season but again well done to the players nad MC for being spot on.
We need to beat Colchester now on friday and the other teams will be under pressure then to win on saturday.
    Great three points.

I'd agree with your analysis of the goals Wilesy but not sure I'd agree the partnership looked untroubled. Ward was fairly inconsistent, some good blocks but failed to read the game well at other times. TAH looked very commanding in the air but is slow and easily by-passed by a quick break.

Luckily yesterday, Port Vale were so poor and even with our defensive frailties, they were lucky to score 2 goals. On another day we would have won that game 5 - 1.

Luckily yesterday, Port Vale were so poor and even with our defensive frailties, they were lucky to score 2 goals. On another day we would have won that game 5 - 1.

I'd agree with your analysis of the goals Wilesy but not sure I'd agree the partnership looked untroubled. Ward was fairly inconsistent, some good blocks but failed to read the game well at other times. TAH looked very commanding in the air but is slow and easily by-passed by a quick break.

Luckily yesterday, Port Vale were so poor and even with our defensive frailties, they were lucky to score 2 goals. On another day we would have won that game 5 - 1.

Compared to the defensive showing at Posh on Tuesday they were like a brick wall!

Personally I didn't feel we were that threatened by Vale, several times too the defenders just took the balls off the attackers with ease.

Ignore the retard Chish you know it makes sense. Looks like the loony house has kicked out again is it a full moon.

Talking to yourself as in your quote above DKO/Chish is, without doubt, a very clear indication of madness and in particular, is best avoided in a caravan, you plank!! Can you actually see the moon from your caravan?
