SWINDON Town are set to add to their ranks when the emergency loan window opens tomorrow with the signing of Jacob Murphy from Norwich City.

The England Under 19 international, who made his professional bow for the Canaries in an FA Cup clash with Fulham last month, is expected to sign a one-month deal at the County Ground.

Murphy, whose twin brother Josh is also part of the Norwich setup, is highly rated by the Premier League club and his capture represents a major coup for Swindon owner Lee Power, who has personal links to Carrow Road chief executive David McNally.

Murphy is due to sign on in time to be in contention to face Port Vale in League One on Saturday. If he does not make the matchday squad at Vale Park, however, the teenager will have to wait until the home clash with Colchester United on February 14 to make his Robins bow.

“I believe we’re signing a player from Norwich, I’ve been told that we are,” Swindon manager Mark Cooper told the Advertiser. “I’m led to believe we’re signing Jacob Murphy on a month’s loan from Norwich.”

While Town continue to strengthen their ranks with new signings, there are no immediate plans to offload any of their senior players.

Dany N’Guessan returned to the starting XI with an impressive individual performance at Peterborough United on Wednesday night, despite having been recently made available for a loan transfer away from Wiltshire, and Cooper does not expect him to move on imminently.

“I had a conversation with Dany on Friday and it was very frank and forthright and I showed him a few bits and he understands what is required of him,” he said. “To be fair to him, (at Peterborough) he was fantastic.”

Meanwhile, the Football Association have confirmed that Yaser Kasim will serve a two-match ban after picking up his 10th booking of the season at London Road. Kasim will miss the clashes with Port Vale and Colchester United.
