SWINDON Town have missed out on signing Liverpool youngster Michael Ngoo after the striker joined Walsall on loan.
Town chairman Lee Power had been chasing the signature of the towering frontman for several weeks and has held talks with his parent club over the possibility of taking Ngoo to the County Ground.
However, Ngoo will now line up for the Robins' League One play-off rivals Walsall.
On Tuesday night, after his side drew 1-1 with the Saddlers, Town manager Mark Cooper admitted he had missed out on a target.
He told the Advertiser: “We were chasing somebody but I believe that person will now be joining another club,” Cooper said.
“We had a list and we’ve tried our hardest.
“What we’re not going to do is bankrupt the football club and put it in the same situation it was in the summer. I’m content to keep working with the guys we’ve got."
