TRANSFER deadline day is expected to be a quiet one at Swindon Town after manager Mark Cooper reiterated that he does not expect to do any further business before the window shuts at 11pm.

The Robins had hoped at the beginning of the week to tie up a deal for Liverpool striker Michael Ngoo but it now appears that Cooper and his chairman Lee Power will have to settle for a total of three new signings in January.

George Barker, Michael Smith and Jamie Reckord have all joined the club since the turn of the year and, with a number of long-term injury absentees nearing full fitness, Cooper will soon boast a sizeable squad.

However, the Town boss is not confident he will be able to offload any fringe players before tonight’s deadline, either, despite recent inquiries for Dany N’Guessan and Lee Cox.

“I’ve heard nothing different from Tuesday night. I was asked on Tuesday and I’ve been told nothing different from then,” Cooper said.

“I didn’t think we’d do loads and loads either way but we’ve got one or two in and they’ve been good ones. We’ve said all along that we want to make sure the people we bring in are the right type.

“The two we did bring in are the right type. Jamie has loads of potential, we can make him a good player.

“They all fit into what we’re trying to do. They’re young, hungry and they want to make themselves better so we’re pleased.

“I’m sure (deadline day) will be good fun but I’m sure it will be pretty quiet here.”

Football League clubs will only have a week to wait until the next transfer window starts, with the emergency loan market opening up on February 8.
