SWINDON TOWN: Pritchard handed two-match ban

The Wiltshire Gazette and Herald: Alex Pritchard has been suspended for two games after picking up 10 yellow cards this season Alex Pritchard has been suspended for two games after picking up 10 yellow cards this season

SWINDON Town's Alex Pritchard has been handed a two-match suspension after accumulating 10 yellow cards this season.

Pritchard picked up his 10th booking of the season at Walsall on Tuesday night and the Football Association yesterday confirmed that the on-loan Tottenham youngster will now miss the weekend clash with Oldham Athletic and next Wednesday’s trip to Peterborough United in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.

Pritchard was banned for one game earlier in the campaign after racking up five yellow cards before the amnesty period expired on December 31.

Not sure how this works, the amnesty expired 31/12/13 but his yellows after his first ban gets carried forward to accumulate to a further 2 match ban.

On the positive side it looks like it is highly likely he will still be with us after the transfer deadline and will be bursting at the seams to get back into the team when we play the Posh in the return leg of the JPT. Would guess Byrne's or Barchem will get their chance to impress as his replacement.

Maybe Prichard should have a look at that side of his game. I mean TEN yellow cards and were in January!!! He's not exactly being booked for replicating Vinny jones, most are for back chatting and moaning at the ref!!!

Nice little earner now for him being paid whilst sitting on the sidelines, I certainly do hope he comes back fresh and wins a few games single handedly.

Not so sure he will be getting paid for a 2 match ban, certainly wouldn't deserve it for the reasons you mentioned, too much back chat and moaning at the ref has never changed anything. he's not the only one, far too many yellows accumulated by several players this season. Only way they will learn is hit them in the pocket.

meant to add to last post a bit of communal service visiting children in hospital or boy/girl clubs supporting the local community wouldn't go amiss either.

In Pritchs' defence at Walsall I did not think that it was a foul let alone a yellow, but I am biased. It was certainly nowhere near like the follow through on Wes a good few seconds after he had caught the ball - which was no card!

He was a bad ref! Mind you he would most likely got no 10 against Oldham!

Undoubted talent, but really needs to get the anger out of his game. Mouthing off at the ref or lineo to collect bookings and then miss games is ridiculous for a professional. I'm sure he'll grow up but it needs to happen now to build a career.

The amnesty works on 5 yellow cards collected prior to 31/12 receives a mandatory 1 match ban. So, for example if a player was sweating on 4 yellow cards and manages to go to the end of the year without collecting another, but collects his yellow card on new years day he will not receive a ban. However, the yellow cards are still collective and the ban would then come into force if the player received a total of 10 yellow cards.

ope that clears it up !!
