CHIPPENHAM Town's Calor League Southern Premier Division clash with St Neots Town this evening is poised to go ahead, despite the continuing heavy rain overnight.

The Hardenhuish Park playing surface was reported to be in decent shape this morning as the Bluebirds prepare for a key scrap with their Cambridgeshire rivals at the bottom of the table.

Club chairman Neil Blackmore said: "At 9am, (the) pitch had no standing water on. Fingers crossed the sun keeps shining.''

Manager Mark Collier was pleased with the condition of the pitch during Saturday's win over Weymouth, despite the intense battering to took from the elements during the match.

The club had the surface verti drained, a process that helps to aerate the soil, last week.
