NILE Ranger’s inclusion in Swindon Town’s squad to face Shrewsbury Town on Saturday is slightly in doubt after the striker missed Thursday training through illness.

Ranger will be assessed again on Friday before manager Mark Cooper makes a final decision on his starting XI for the clash with the Shrews this weekend.

If the frontman is not fit enough to feature, new signing Michael Smith looks likely to lead the line for the Robins.

Cooper told the local press this lunchtime: “I’m sure Nile will be expecting to play on Saturday. He wasn’t at training (on Thursday) because he’s ill so we didn’t see him. The gauntlet’s been thrown down to Nile now. We’ve got another centre forward in the building who will be putting pressure on him.

“We’ll see how Nile is tomorrow and we’ll assess that and do some work on how we’re going to line up on Saturday.”
