hmm not sure this is what we are looking for, but hey ho lets see how he does. I think we should still be focusing on a centre back personally, even though we have another centre back on offer I've never been convinced by the two we had before anyway

Is that a replacement for Ajose? Hoping he can play out wide and cut in to score goals?

Welcome to the Town George.

Time will tell if you have what it takes. The fact that Luke Williams rates you should be seen as a very positive thing. Let's hope that working with him again will bring out the best in you.

I feel too many fans think we are wealthy club and possibly been spoiled by Blacks regime in charge. We need to unearth these gems to survive in all honesty. Luke Williams will be no doubt aware of the lads ability and saw him bang plenty of goals in at youth level so could prove a decent signing. But the main point here is to accept the way our club will be managed in its present state with little money about. At the end of the day we are actually buying the lad so its another player on the books and one loan less. N'Guessan, Storey, Waldon, Barker and even Kayden Jackson so why all this talk of having no strikers. Expect another striker to replace Ranger. I do feel we will miss Ajose who was quite prolific but just have to get on with it and in accordance with what little money we have.

A bit sad to see Shaquille Coulthirst has joined the O's on loan from Spurs, and probably on no greater fee than we could have offered. Still 3 out of a max 4 spurs players is still hitting the jackpot in my books.

I feel our greatest 'signings' will be to hold onto what we already have and get our walking wounded back on the field. Mason has more to offer, Grant is finally finding his rhythm, Troy and Tijane are effectively new signings. Jack has looked good when he's given playing time so Mark and Luke are certainly good at succession planning (ready for when our shining stars inevitably leave, for a decent fee).

I trust our business model which is to develop or buy under-rated or maligned young players from recognised disciplined academies/youth set-ups who for whatever reason never got the rub of the green or didn't shine with what few openings they were given. We've so far picked young players who know and have played with others already on our books. It is possible that our young squad are being asked about who they've played with who could step up to the mark. I suspect Kasim and Harley know enough about George to give him the nod. Given Luke's high opinion too I'm happy to wait and see how this one turns out.

I doubt we will go looking for many more older players (25+) now; only Danny has really shown that he is better than anyone younger than him in our current squad. The hunger for game time from the younger players makes up for their lack of experience. Our oldest players (Darren and Jay) haven't been able to maintain the water tightness of the previous two seasons. Would Troy and Jack really fare any worse?

I would love to see us field the youngest team across all leagues this year - this is the future of our club. I was beginning to get bored of journeymen footballers with no appetite or passion trucking up week after week. This may be an unpredictable path forward but it's an exciting one.

Still not convinced Ajose won't back at the end of the window or even in the summer. Power looks like he can deal with the Darragh Antony/Barry Fry nonsense. He clearly loved his time here by the statement he released. Power won't pay what they want, but lets just see.

Absolutely no "inside information" a la many famous posters just a hunch.

Happy with this signing of Barker as said earlier, if he's rared by WIlliams that's good enough for me.

who knows the Town can only do so much, hope it works out for the young player.
Just let us hope the club can off load some of these sick notes who just seem to be happy getting monthly salaries.Still I guess injuries are a major problem that cannot be helped.
Yet I still think Exeter took advantage on TAH,however the Town should have maybe made sure medical wise
So as said best of luck to the new Striker

I can't possibly comment on this signing as to whether can do a job for us because like many others I don't know how good or bad he might be. All I can do is applaud the club for addressing an area where we've lost cover in the last week - can he hold the ball up ala NR - is he as nippy as Ajose - is he just cover for Miles & Danny N'G - has he been bought in to partner MS/D N'G? The permutations and theories are endless so until the lad is given a run we can only speculate as to where LW/MC see him slotting in but I applaud the fact that the club have positively addressed a problem area. Let's hope they can do the same defensively and that we can find somebody to bolster the back four.
So for me it's a case of "full steam ahead Mr Barker, full steam ahead!"

Is it safe to come back??? Not been posting for a while whilst I tried to figure out if I'm a happy clapper or a doom monger!!! Welcome to our club George - hope you have a successful career with us. Not been able to get to any games yet this season due to other commitments so the comments on here from some have been invaluable - thank you. I'm pleased with what CooperPower are trying to do. Patience is needed until we lose the rest of the old guard high earners at the end of the season. I'm most happy at still having a club so would have taken anything above relegation struggle at the start of season. With our new sustainability model I'll be happy if we can keep building next season with a tilt at going up to CCC in the next 2 or 3 seasons. COYR

Malky,

In the spirit of us signing the young lad from Brighton, I heard we are also looking at signing a potentially decent but unproven defender from Sunderland.

John Egan has loads of potential and is from a family very rich in sporting history, just recovering recently from a severely broken leg and would tick all the boxes with us.
