MARK Cooper has not even contemplated how the January transfer window could impact on his Swindon Town squad.

The market is open for business on New Year’s Day, with several Town players likely to be in demand. Alex Pritchard is being watched by a whole host of Championship clubs, Wes Foderingham has previously been scouted by Bournemouth and Massimo Luongo has also caught the eye during the first half of a season in which Swindon have exceeded expectations.

Nicky Ajose looks set to return to Peterborough, with Town expected to be priced out of a loan extension or a permanent move, but after Swindon’s 1-1 draw at Bradford yesterday Cooper said he has not been focusing on what may come.

“I’ve not really even thought about it. We get dealt what we get dealt; I’m not going to get overly in a pickle about it,” he said.

“If we lost players we lose them like we have said all season, if we get players then we get them in.

“We’ve got some good players already.

“We’ve got a little bit of a break after Crawley and hopefully we can get everyone back and firing in the new year.

“I don’t think anyone thought we’d get to where we are, to be honest, and we’re really pleased with where we are.

“We always want to get better and aim even higher.”

Cooper was delighted with a point at Valley Parade, during which his defenders stood up well to Bradford’s immense physical test.

“In thought we looked strong.

“We got done with one header but apart from that we looked really solid,” he said. “The goalkeeper helped us, we asked him if he could come and punch it and I think he helped immensely today.

“Hopefully the penny has started to drop and the next time they play away they can be as good.

“You keep working on it in training and hoping that the penny drops and maybe now it has.”

Cooper lamented the indiscipline of Nile Ranger, who was not involved in the matchday squad in Yorkshire after failing to turn up for training again on Friday.

“The boy has had that many chances and I feel so sorry for him,” he said.

“I’ve got a son and I want to look after him but we’ve got to think about the group and if he can’t toe the line with the rest of the boys we’ve got decisions to make.

“I’ll speak to Lee and see what we do in the new year.

“I just don’t think he thinks he’s done anything wrong.

“I think he thinks it’s a normal day in the life of Nile and I feel so sorry for him because you can’t change him.”

Finally, Town will find out more about injuries sustained by Jay McEveley and Grant Hall at Bradford later today. Hall twisted his ankle while McEveley is believed to have twisted his knee.
