That's it from here at chilly Bradford.

Next up is Crawley at home on New Year's Day so see you then.

6:02pm

Cooper said he was delighted with the performance of long term absentee Rossi Branco:

“I have made the players give him a round of applause in the changing room because to be out of the game for so long and then to play like he did was fantastic.

“I am very pleased for him.”

Di kanny oh says

Great game today by sound of things and end to end second half and deserved draw at last after having a great game at Brentford and deserving something from that game. They beat MK Dons easily today so just shows how good we had done there. Pritchard MOM today for sure and what about Branco who came on and did excellent. Why has he not been in before after a display like this. Food for thought for Cooper at the end of the day and 3 points on new years day will be brilliant. Sounded like we could have won this game today with plenty of chances. Cooper has just admitted we should have won the game and was so pleased with Branco's performance who he thought was outstanding and has given him something to think about. Three very hard games we have come through and four points for me is excellent and certainly no disgrace whatsoever and beat Creepies on Wed and this will be an excellent period and I for one would have taken the 7 points four games ago. If we have got the draw at Brentford then I would have said simply fantastic last three games. Today may have unearthed a defender who Cooper though was not ready and this lad Branco may well have grabbed the chance with both hands. Roll on Wed and lets hope we can start the new year on a high.

5:49pm

5:39pm

Cooper says there are a lot of positives to take from the game and he wants the players use today for the rest of the season:

The Wiltshire Gazette and Herald: Town boss Mark Cooper

"We looked strong but got done with one header. Apart from that we looked really solid.

"Hopefully the penny is starting to drop. We just have to keep working and working on it in training.

"The players were outstanding and the supporters were fantastic

"I don’t think anyone thought we’d be where we are right now  in the league and we’re really pleased with that. We want to stay near the top."

5:32pm

Cooper was full of praise for goalscorer Pritchard and the team's overall performance:

The Wiltshire Gazette and Herald: Alex Pritchard is chopped down at Rotherham, but had the last laugh

“It was a fantastic goal. We know Pritchard has that in his game but there were times when we haven’t seen that.

“He is now one of the first names on the team sheet.

"Today it was close to getting it right at the back. The goalkeeper came out and made it hard for them and the two thompsons defended for their lives."

5:27pm

Mark Cooper is now talking to the media after today's game:

The Wiltshire Gazette and Herald: Mark Cooper

“I’m a little bit frustrated as I thought we could have won the game.

“We felt really hard done by going in at half time a goal down. In the second half, up until the goal, we were totally dominant. Once the goal went in we lost our heads a little bit.

“We played with deeper midfielders getting in behind their midfielders and they found it really difficult to deal with.”

See Darby is playing for them today, thought he was a good prospect as at least to be a Championship defender whilst on loan to us from Liverpool, not sure if Bradford is where he should be plying his trade.

2:56pm

Only a few minutes to kick-off now. Although there is a decent crowd, it is quite a subdued atmosphere. The recent run of form from the home team is probably a big contributing factor in that. Town will be hoping to keep them quiet all afternoon.

2:49pm

DISCLAIMER

With just over ten minutes remaining until kick-off, here's a quick reminder of how we are allowed to cover Swindon Town games on the Advertiser website.

Due to restrictions imposed on journalists by Dataco, we are unable to give up-to-the-second commentary of events at the County Ground.

Updates are subject to a three-minute delay under the terms of these restrictions.

If you want full text commentary of the game, log onto Twitter and follow Adver chief sports writer Sam Morshead (@SamMorshead_SA).

Updates will appear on Matchday Live but will be on a three-minute delay.

2:45pm

Just the ten mascots here today. Nine of them from Bradford, all predicting a win for the Bantams unsurprisingly. The lone Town mascot is going for a 2-0 win for Swindon.

2:39pm

With just under 25 minutes until kick-off both sets of fans are starting to fill up the ground.

There look to be just over 100 Town fans already in their seats, taking the second tier of the T L Dallas behind one of the goals.

2:28pm

Swindon Town fans have a particularly fond memory of Valley Parade.

After a goalless draw on the final day of the 2011/12 season, Paolo Di Canio's Robins could celebrate the League Two title.

This is how they did it...

Just seen the team selection, looks like a 4-5-1 format, expect us to defend in depth. With this line up we have to have the shortest players in the league with 7 of them under 5' 6". definitely need to keep the ball on the ground.

2:23pm

There is a low sun here today but much of the pitch is covered in shadow so it should not be too much of a problem for either keeper.

However, there is a drummer in the stands…

2:20pm

MAN IN THE MIDDLE

Today's referee is Oliver Langford and draws don't like him.

The whistleblower has taken charge of 18 Football League matches this season and only one has ended as a draw.

Just under 50 per cent of the games Langford oversees end up as away wins, so Town can take some solace from that, while the West Midlands official has issued 43 yellow cards and two reds this term.

BREAKING TEAM NEWS

BRADFORD CITY v Swindon Town: McLaughlin; Darby, McHugh, McArdle, Meredith; Reid, Jones Ravenhill, Thompson; Hanson , Wells

Substitutes: Ripley, Kennedy, Yeates, Bates, Doyle, Clarkson, McBurnie

2:17pm

The Swindon Town players are out on the Valley Parade pitch for their warm-up.

2:13pm

ADVER CHIEF SPORTS WRITER SAM MORSHEAD: "So then, as expected there's no Nile Ranger this afternoon and Mark Cooper has gone for Nicky Ajose to lead the line in his absence as Dany N'Guessan continues to miss out due to illness.

"It appears as though Cooper has gone for a tight three in the middle of midfield, with Byrne and Pritchard as wingers.

"Of course, as is always the case with this Town squad, we'll have to wait until kick-off to see what actually happens."

1:56pm

After a strong start to the season, Bradford have struggled for form in the League in recent months with only one win since the start of October.

The Wiltshire Gazette and Herald: City's fixtures for new season

The last win for last season’s League Cup finalists came away to MK Dons on November 23 and you have to go back to the end of September to find their last win at home, which was a 2-1 win against Shrewsbury.

1:52pm

Swindon will be wanting to forget what happened on Boxing Day, but we're not letting you cast the 3-2 defeat to Brentford to the back of your minds just yet.

1:47pm

ADVER CHIEF SPORTS WRITER SAM MORSHEAD: "I've just bumped into former Town forward Raffa De Vita at the back of the main stand at Valley Parade.

"He's not fit to feature today but was on good form, speaking very highly about life at Bradford and specifically the home crowd in this Yorkshire outpost."

An away point today would be good, three points a bonus, but if they have their preferred team available it will be hard going. A solid performance is what is needed and somebody with tenacity, skill and guile at the back.
Clean sheet would be a belated Christmas Present.

TEAM NEWS

Nothing official until around 2pm but here's a quick rundown of who's in and who's out (and who's a doubt) for Swindon Town this afternoon.

There are concerns over Dany N'Guessan, Yaser Kasim and Ryan Harley, who have all been struggling with a virus of late and are facing a battle to be fit.

The Wiltshire Gazette and Herald: Swindon's Ryan Harley, centre

DOUBT: RYAN HARLEY

Nile Ranger missed training again on Friday and is unlikely to feature today as Mark Cooper continues to figure out how to manage the striker.

Troy Archibald-Henville and Tijane Reis are close to returns following knee surgery but are unlikely to play a part. Alex Smith is a long-term absentee.

1:40pm

1:33pm

Regardless, you'll be able to keep up with all the latest from Valley Parade (sorry, the Coral Windows Stadium) right here as an our and a half of live build-up gets us ready for in-play updates and reaction.

Buckle up, let those Christmas bellies digest and try to enjoy another manic afternoon of League One action.

1:31pm

After the disappointment of defeat at Brentford on Boxing Day, Town will be hoping to make amends at Valley Parade against a Bantams side well out of form.

However, with a number of players struggling with illness and the ongoing disciplinary indiscretions of Nile Ranger plaguing the news, it is unlikely to be plain sailing for Mark Cooper and his motley crew.

1:30pm

Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen and welcome to the Advertiser's live coverage of Swindon Town's trip to Bradford City.

With the possible absence of key players through virus and the issue with Ranger, our attacking attributes could be limited, add to that the frailties at the back to cope with Wells and Hanson, the question is how will Cooper set out to get a result. Hope he doesn't go 4-6-0, we shouldn't invite them into our area considering our poor record for defending dead ball situations.

This is a tough one to call again. We had enough going forward to win on Boxing Day. Yet we don't just leak goals at the back, we gift them to the opposition. Really need the back to be tighter, then perhaps Copper's prediction of 14 more wins will be a possibility.

Today? I would like a Town win, but can see beyond a draw. Would take that now.

I guess it would help if we don't give away needless free kicks in our half and no yellows/reds. Something I cannot recall we've managed to do this season.

Same old Swindon losing AGAIN away from home!!!!. Told you lot in the summer we are gonna struggle. Inexperienced management and inexperienced players. Won't be long til we will have fallen into the bottom half of the table. Think we may have enough points already plus with hopefully a few home wins in the new year to just about be able to stay above the bottom 4. Championship football Lee Power?...You're having a laugh, not in our lifetime I'm afraid.

A bit OTT, but agree 8 points from a possible 33 (24%) does not reflect good on the manager or the players. To be honest, Cooper has had some bad luck with injuries, no excuses for the bans for red/yellow cards, I think he is struggling to get the right tactics and doesn't seem to have the players consistent enough to deliver it, but for sure there will be no change, so we have to put our faith in him and Lee to get it right.

Obviously keeping the club in League One and financially viable and sustainable so we have a future no matter how chequered must be the priority, so owners as opposed to managers.

. Really???, should have waited until the end of the game, good away performance by the sound of it and a point is good, after all Di Canio could only get a "lucky" point up there.

Next up Crawley...a win in that game after a couple of difficult away games where performances were reasonably good and it will be a good return from the "Christmas" fixtures.

Quire right. I think we have a lot to look forward to especially if we can get rid of Williams, Navarro and Cox, which will enable Power some room to bring guys in. beginning of the season I would have taken this gladly.
I wonder if Sunderland are still suffering from some of PDC's purchases.
Think we are stuck with Willo for a while - damaged goods.. :o(

Very polite way of putting things.

Good reason now to get rid due to gross mis conduct.
Is he really now worth all the bother ???
Yes, at least until we know the result of his trial, if he is found not guilty and he still continues to behaves badly, then that is the time to make a decision of his future. We have to find a way of reaching the dark side of Nile. He is a valuable asset that will see us win more points with him in the team than not.

I wish I knew the answer Wiz, but I don't, the only thing I can think of would be to get him involved into a charity role where he can see first hand the life of the more unfortunate people of society that will never have the same opportunities he has had, but do make the most of what life has dealt them.

Won 4 Drawn 3 Lost 3 in the last 10 games if you want to go back just two more games.

Absolutely bang on guys I would have taken this position 8th with 34 points any day of the week and we all know it could have been more had we more than just two central defenders. The irony of today is the performance of young Rossi Branco who Cooper thought was not ready for league football yet gave a superb display coming on for injured Hall. I wonder how he would have fared in the past many games as probably Cooper has wondered. Might be worth playing Branco and Hall if fit next game and rest Ward.

They have been proved wrong many times before and might do so again.
It was these same people saying we are doomed for relegation and City certain to get promoted before a ball had even been kicked.

61, in that JPT game against Torquay, Rossi Branco started nervously, but had a brilliant second half. my daughter and I spoke with him and his agent after the game, really nice guy and given the multi-mistakes of our present centre backs, it's hard to understand why he has not been given a chance before now. Hope he starts against Crawley

Didn't go, (I've spent enough this season watching our away no shows) didn't listen to the commentary, didn't read the match report. Not much more to say really without revisiting the rhetoric about Ranger, the Spurs loanees + Ajose & Wes plus the will we / won't we make the playoffs- it's all been done to death over and over. Today was another point towards L1 survival- nothing more nothing less.
A happy healthy prosperous New Year to all - I'll be back when there is actually something different to chew the fat over which will no doubt please a few lol! So that probably means post Crawley :-)

From Sam's report it would seem Storey had the chance to secure all 3 points but fluffed it.

Sure this was said out of frustration but a bit rich to comment on the match when you obviously weren't there. A point at Bradford was a decent result, all things considered we're not doing badly, and though I have concerns (leaking goals which we're by and large gifting to the opposition, no competition for places at centre half, potentially being left without a striker who can hold the ball up as Ranger could well be off) there's no need for us to jump off the collective cliff just yet.

Appreciate your opinion Lovesey but what I saw and what others have since said about him too, it just didn't work for him here for whatever reason.
When I first saw him, I thought he was good, with the speed powering down on goal, but then it seemed more and more for him to lose his way en-route to goal or fluff his lines.
The 'good money' bit is our problem to, as probably we could do with his wages coming off of the balance sheet when he is fit again, and probably we are going to take a major loss to get rid of him .

Do your sums again. Its obvious you didn't do maths at school.

Last 9 league games including today's game amounts to FOUR WINS, TWO DRAWS, and THREE LOSSES and throw in two paint pot wins during this period I don't see any problems. Many of our away losses have been by single goals and this is with the same two central defenders all season because of injuries. Not all that bad I feel.

Old Town,

You simply cannot talk like that to one of the supreme elders of this site, although you clearly do not realise that 'the multiple posters of Witney' are trying to tie you up in knots.

Just look at the previous few posts before yours, but fair play to you for standing your ground, much more exciting reading your replies to the idiot than the match result!

Chish and Wizard, {That sounds quite good actually, you might test it!}

I have no problem with replying to both of you, because every sensible poster on here has long since realised you are the one and the same person and also admitted regular posts on the Oxford Mail as Di kanny oh, 'just to wind them up', as you said at the time. So that makes three of you and rising!

On Redhill, do you mean Surrey or Hereford? If Hereford, I would be happy to meet you at the corner of Widemarsh Street and Blueschool Street in 45 minutes. I will be carrying a copy of the match programme from today and trust you can identify yourself likewise. A couple of pints and a chat would be great.

Good game today between two completely contrasting sides. Us with our passing game and Bradford with pacy wingers getting in crosses for big Henson. Both sides played well there could have been more goals though that was down to average finishing rather than great goalkeeping. A draw a fair result. All players involved from both sides put in a shift.

Thought we missed Ranger massively - nothing stuck up top although Ajose then Storey worked hard.

Branco did well, as did Ward who had a good battle with Henson all afternoon.

The cross for their goal was whipped in at real pace, very difficult to defend although they tried the same thing every time and could have scored more.

Pritchard was superb today they couldn't get near him, had a number of shots and dribbles and a fantastic goal.

Jan will be interesting, looks to be some coming and going so lets see for starters who waves goodbye on NYD......

Wilesy

Now you are beginning to annoy me, if you don't know we entertain Crawley on NYD you cannot be a STFC supporter, get the fcuk off our site and crawl back up your arse you maggot

Sorry Old Town,

When I said previous few posts, Jockster excluded of course, because he is in fact me, which must be true, because Wizard said so!!
I think OTR like everybody else knows better and you are just a wummer, and again you are wrong, I live in Redhill these days. Why don't you come on down.
Wiz - as the signs say in the zoo ' Please do not feed the animals'

Happy New Year Wiz.

and to you JB
Chish and Wizard, {That sounds quite good actually, you might test it!}

From someone who actualy was at the match today, the rest of you please stop your girley bickering, its not even amusing.
To sum it up a good all action game from town, good passing and moving, but also lots of chasing and tackling, special mention for Pritchard in this context.
Foderingham - 9 Good game dominated his area more than he has done recently, although a couple of times needed to call louder that the ball was his.
Jay Mac - 9 All action good runs, up wing and through middle, looked like it may be a recurrance of his knee injury and may be out a while ?
Ward -9 Dealt with Hanson very well, solid game and helped Branco when he came on.
Hall - 9 Another good game is getting better every match now.
Nathan T - 8 Improved on previous weeks, worked hard in defence, still looks half a yard off his best, upset the home fans with a good hard tackle second half.
Louis T - 8 Mostly played holding role in midfield lots of energy and broke up play well.
Luongo - 8 OK not top of his form, solif display.
Kasim - 7 worked hard played a bit further forward than normal for him, to many missed passes today.
N Byrne - 8 All action as usual, did well in both positions, covering for Jay at left back after he went off.
Pritchard -9 Great game worked hard, shame the couple of free kicks from the edge of the area did not come of as well.
Ajose - 8 Good when playing through the middle first half, lost his way when pushed out to the right second half, not close enough to Storey for them to work in tandem, shame.
Subs...
Storey - 7 Did not work as a lone striker, gave it lots of effort though, chances talked about were hard and most he had made through own pace.
R Branco - 8 Good performance from this novice, would not of known he has had so little first team action, largely straightforward defending, just what we needed at the time (reminded me of Joe DeVera)
Gladwin - 7 OK not sure he got to the pace of the game, his size brings benefits , but seems to lack mobility, and does not chase back enough for me.

The local commentary were very upset by our defenders and midfielders tackling and handling of there players, and thought that the ref was biased against them and to lenient to us, I think that says lots about how well we defended as a team today.

Well done Town, proud to have been there.
