5:51pm

That's it for today ladies and gents.

From everyone at the Adver have a very merry Christmas and we will see you all at Griffin Park on Boxing Day.

5:50pm

Kasim was also pleased to open his account for Town today and was pleased to see Miles Storey find the net.

The Wiltshire Gazette and Herald:

YASER KASIM CELEBRATES HIS GOAL TODAY

“I kind of saw it (being dropped coming from the last few games because I wasn’t playing to a great standard but that happens throughout the season. The more experience you have the more you can handle it.

“There will be highs and lows but you just have to take it.

“It came off Nile’s head and I hit it so cleanly through the players and the keeper didn’t even move.

“Miles is a very good player but hasn’t had the chances, but now he does and this is big for him.

“Hopefully he gets a few more chances to show what he can do and I’m happy for him.”

5:47pm

Yaser Kasim is the last to face the media.

The Wiltshire Gazette and Herald: Swindon Town's Yaser Kasim in action against Preston

YASER KASIM

“It was very exciting. We were a little off the pace in the first half but we changed tactics and it was a very good game. When you have freedom it helps the team.

“I trained a couple of times a bit further forward this week and I think they saw something, I like it.”

5:36pm

Midfielder Luongo was also delighted to see Miles Storey back in the team and on the scoresheet.

The Wiltshire Gazette and Herald: Massimo Luongo

MASSIMO LUONGO

“Miles has been out for a little while but he’s a good lad we all enjoy playing and training with. He deserves to come back into the team and it’s great he got a goal.”

5:28pm

Massimo Luongo is the next in front of the microphone.

The Wiltshire Gazette and Herald: Massimo Luongo

MASSIMO LUONGO

“It was pretty exciting for us and we 100 per cent enjoyed it.

“Both teams made it good to watch and we got our personality back again.

"Mase (Ryan Mason) wasn’t feeling well throughout the week so it was good to get Yaser on and the changes made the difference.

“The gaffer said earlier in the week having him in the hole is a little wasted because his technique is flawless.

“The first-half is about staying in the game and we did that really well and if we can do that there’s always goals in there for us.”

5:24pm

Miles Storey had a beaming smile on his face while discussing his winner.

The Wiltshire Gazette and Herald: Town's Future: Miles Storey

MILES STOREY

“This is brilliant for me. I was at Coventry and I missed out on a scholarship which was hard but it was great to score today.

“The way the team plays makes it hard for me to be involved because there are some great forward players, and I’ve had to bide my time, but it’s great to be back.

“Coventry are one of the best teams we’ve played but we showed great character to come back. Playing off Ranger is good for me because he gets a lot of flick-ons.”

5:23pm

Cooper also revealed the players will be given Christmas Day off ahead of Brentford on Boxing Day...but he's keeping a close eye on Mr Ranger.

The Wiltshire Gazette and Herald: Nile Ranger celebrates his late winner

NAUGHTY BOY: Nile Ranger

“We’re going to trust them, Nile Ranger’s staying at my house although the wife and kids aren’t too happy,” Cooper joked.

“I’m going to keep my eye on him and feed him under the door to make sure he behaves himself. Anything can happen.”

5:22pm

The Town boss was impressed with the impact of his substitutes this afternoon, while he also praised Nile Ranger's display.

The Wiltshire Gazette and Herald: Swindon Town's Nile Ranger celebrates his goal

“Yaser found himself out the team and his attitude was spot on, and he’s come off the bench and scored.

“Miles came on and could have scored a hat trick because his pace can cause so many problems.

“He’s always been in our thoughts but playing one up front doesn’t suit him because he needs to play with a bigger striker.

“Nile gives us a different dimension and in the second-half he was great.”

5:18pm

Cooper has also explained the tactical changes which held the key to today's victory.

The Wiltshire Gazette and Herald: Mark Cooper talks to the media after Swindon Town's 2-1 victory over Wycombe Wanderers

MARK COOPER

“Their full-backs were causing us problems so we played with three at the back with two wing backs to cancel them out and we went for three up front and could have scored four or five.

“That was tense and hard work the coaching staff because you’re always trying to come up with something and thankfully it’s worked.”

5:15pm

Mark Cooper is speaking to the media.

The Wiltshire Gazette and Herald: Mark Cooper at Colchester on Saturday

MARK COOPER

“It was a fantastic game with two really good teams, the best team we’ve played, and their forwards are very good and we did well to keep it to one.

“They were better in the first half and we made some radical changes. I decided to open the game up and see if we could win it – sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t.

“We’ve been open like that away from home and got beat but they showed they can have a bit of balance. We had to defend a lot at times because it was end to end but it was enjoyable to watch.”

IN THE AWAY DUGOUT - Steven Pressley

The Wiltshire Gazette and Herald: Coventry have appointed Steven Pressley as manager

STEVEN PRESSLEY
Steven Pressley has done an impressive job since taking over in difficult circumstances, for what is his first job in English football. Pressley spent almost his entire playing career in Scotland, barring 19 games for the Sky Blues in 199, and began his managerial career with Falkirk before moving to the West Midlands.

The Wiltshire Gazette and Herald: Leon Clarke

LEON CLARKE

Town fans need no introduction to Clarke following his ill-fated two month spell in Wiltshire at the beginning of the 2011/12 season. Since moving on the forward has scored goals and is currently in his most prolific spell with 14 goals already this season.

2:14pm

The rain has returned at the County Ground. It's mighty gloomy outside.

2:13pm

ADVER CHIEF SPORTS WRITER SAM MORSHEAD: "Let's hope the festive cheer, which has been dampened by serious rain overnight, isn't drowned by a Coventry victory this afternoon.

"It's a very, very, very attacking line-up named by Town boss Mark Cooper - and fans braving the elements should be in for a treat.

"Having Ranger back is a huge plus for Swindon, and with Ajose, Pritchard, Mason, Byrne and Luongo running riot around him the Robins could have rediscovered their winning combination.

"Whatever the result, from me to you a very happy Christmas and a healthy and prosperous new year."

I must say at 0-1 down i couldn't see us scoring but well played lads, showed great grit and determination and kept playing all game. Miles coming on was the game changer for me and it appears finally Cooper has made a positive change, although the switch to 3-5-2 helped in my view.

Liverpool going top of the Premier League, Swindon coming from behind, Yaser scoring his first and Miles coming back to score with winner - anyone would think it was Christmas!!

Happy Christmas Everyone

Great comeback for a very useful result and all my sources tell me it was a great game.

Really good to see Yaser respond to last week's disappointing performance in this way and speaks volumes for his character as well as his undoubted skill.

Miles' goal sounds like the combination of pace and clinical finishing we all know can make him a great player. Very interesting comments in his interview about his combination with Ranger. Statistically, N'Guesson and Ajose would be our most potent front 2 but who now would be arguing against Ranger and Storey?

Nice to open your Xmas presents early.

Nile Ranger was simply outstanding today and caused them so many problems and we look a better side with him than without I hate to say. What a fantastic game and Coventry were excellent and must be gutted to come away with nothing probably like us at Wolves earlier in the season. Great comeback today and Coops changed the game with his substitutions so well done for that. Miles was opening them up at will and you could see something was coming and I would certainly have taken the draw but to win the game well that was just awesome although a little hard on Coventry but one of the best games of the season I felt. Absolutely needed the three points with two very hard away games coming up well done the Town but also well done Nile Ranger and Yasser Kasim and Miles Storey who both changed the game.

Kasim was at his best again today, save for one misplaced pass which nearly let them back in as we looked to break, he even took a yellow for the team to ensure we didn't gift anything back. He made Mason look pedestrian, Yasser has so many great little touches and was, today, a big positive.

And STOREY.... What. A. Finish. Massive Goal. Great for him and what has been going on behind the scenes to keep him away from the squad for so long? Not anymore. Storey is the answer!

And we must, of course, pay our respects to Sir Wes, who kept us in the match at 0-1 tipping onto the post and recovering the rebound. Brilliant keeping and the foundation for our comeback.....

Hall looking like a good player (has done the last 3 games I've seen him) and Ranger was great solo and alongside Miles (in fact looked great alongside Miles). Let's see if we still have him at end-Jan... :o/

Big confidence booster as Coventry are a good good side, with some wise old heads in their team, so for our Pups to win like that was magic.

NOW WHEN WILL WE GET RID OF THAT PATHETIC UB-40 MUSIC at the start of every home game???

Suggestions for alternatives (to follow the Fanfare for common man) are always more fun when we've won.... Let's move on, it's a cr*p song from a Brummie Band... NOTHING to do with STFC.

Brilliant win boys... hope you can get 3 points from one of the away'ers now...

Well what a difference a week makes from clueless last week to clued up this week. It has to be said that despite all his foibles Ranger adds an extra dimension to our attack much like Clarke does for Coventry. Great strike from Miles - I actually thought he'd taken it too far. Looked like we were destined to end up pointless until Kasim popped up- Ranger had a great chance but chose to pass to Ajose but he couldn't be faulted for effort and application if a touch unfit perhaps. We rode our luck at times - but got the rub of the green for a change- let's hope the same team turns up at Brentford and not the turkeys who performed so badly oop north- well done everyone and Coops for what turned out to be an inspired substitution.

Very enjoyable game, glad we went for it after they scored as Cooper is too cautious for my liking sometimes but credit to him for his positive changes. It was a bit like pick your position out of a hat time in the second half with Byrne centre back, Pritchard striker, Ajose wing back but maybe that helped as coventry probably couldn't understand what we were doing either.

Pleased for Storey and Kasim changing the game as they have shown a great attitude and reacted well to being out of the team. Ranger was also good and I feel Hall has improved a lot in the last month or so since Macclesfield. If Santa brings us a new defender I think I would keep Hall in the team over Wardy, which I would not have expected to say a while ago.

Echo your comments on Grant Hall who i thought had a great game, proactively stepping out and taking the ball of their strikers a number of times. Big Nile very good and Wes kept us in it.

Finally, i share your sentiments on the truly awful version we come out to. Having grown up on the Kop singing in full voice - i really struggle to join UB Bloody 40!

When did that become the song and why?

Great game in the end - worrying first half because Coventry are a very good well organised outfit. Thought the ref was the best we have had this season, very perceptive and sensible. Ranger gives us so much up front, if only he could wait until he's 35 to start his off-field antics! Kasim was the game changer but great to see Storey score. Brilliant result. Hope we can get something at Brentford, taking a lot of family there who can't get to many games usually. COYMR.

- My thoughts exactly, Den. The game had everything - including the panto villain. Thank you, Leon, for winding up our guys for a gutsy fightback.

After all the doubts about Cooper's tactical ability, and man management skills, this was surely a watershed for him. The dropping of Kasim and farming out of Storey seem to have paid dividends with two rejuvenated players. Bringing Kasim and Bartram on at half time worked wonders, as our midfield had been overrun in the first half. Ironically it was our much-maligned central defence which kept us in the game. I could hardly believe the dominant displays from Hall and Ward as the midfield struggled to cope with Coventry's slick passing.

Even when we were being overrun, we rode our luck and somehow found a way to fight back. To top it all though Ranger was not only hard working, but a class above, and not once did he attempt to retaliate against all the pushing and shoving from City defenders all afternoon. IF he walks free in January, then he could help take us to the play offs and make us a nice big transfer fee to round it off. Christmas has just come early for Town fans :-)

Superb game in awful condition and real credit to the ground staff as it barely looked like a match had taken place at the end.

For all his faults on the pitch Ranger is class. I so hope he can sort himself out and concentrate on football. My MOM by a mile today.

Great to see Miles score today but I am not sure he is ready to start as his asset is his pace and today was perfect for him running at tired legs.

Great to see some praise for Grant Hall today. His first full season he is now starting to show real maturity. I think sometimes we forget how young many of the players are in many cases this is their Rookie year. I would love to sign him permanently.

Really enjoyed the game but lost all respect for Leon Clarke today. IMO his problem was with Paolo, not the fans, and what he did today was very poor.

Thought Leon Clarke should have got carded for his celebration in front of the Arkells, same crass as Monkhouse in front of the Don Rogers a couple of seasons ago. Still we had the last laugh, loved the chant at the end asking him what the score was.

Coops got his subs right today, didn't realise Mason was under the weather, but playing along side Hartley they did not look balanced, too much alike IMO. Hartley did improve in the second half and bringing on Miles Storey was a surprise as probably most of us expected to see Dany come on.

Not sure why Jay was subbed, was he injured? did some decent stuff first half, but one of my mates said he mouthed off at coops. Moving Byrnes to the left and bringing on Barcham was a master stroke from Coops. I really don't want Nat to come back until he is 100% fit, he has been a liability at the back for a while and I thought the back 4 looked a lot more solid today and any frailties in defence was more down to the mid- fielders not closing down.on free space in the middle.

All in all, great result, now lets do the same on Boxing day at Griffin Park

Oxon, of course Clarke's beef was with the manager but I'm sure he was aware that the majority of town fans supported PDC's stance at the time.

I thought Clarke's pantomime villain (thanks AV) performance was amusing. It's odd that it appears OK for crowds to label players "murderer" and "rapist", which Town fans have done to a Port Vale player and a Brentford player in the last few months, yet it's wrong for players to take the mickey out of opposition fans in the way Clarke did. Shouldn't be taken too seriously IMO.

At least we agree on Ranger's performance!

Agree on that Den when Clarke did that in front off us all I was thinking you might score goals but you not in the same class as Austin who after 90 Mins of abuse acted like a gent ..But having said that we are not all level headed fans and he did upset some big time although one fan three quarters up the stand seems to get up set at anything and later was having a spat with a Coventry fan in our stand. What's going on at the booking office, Coventry fans in our stand but I could not get a ticket for my 6 year old Grandson next to me although there was only 6 people in the row that I sit. Lucky my mate did not come so he could sit by me . That's it for season tickets for me ill just pick and choose next season.

Great game yesterday, yes we rode our luck at time but either team could have won.
Still think the team lacks a little bit of self belief but that will come i reckon.
Ranger just quality.
Hall and Ward. best game together for them today.
Would defiantly go roughly with the team that finished today,we look far better when we attack.
As for Clarke, could not understand his antics after scoring as he he got no stick what so ever yesterday,if it was last season i could understand why he did it.
Pretty funny of the MC at the end of the game when he said "i am so happy i think i am going to cry".
As for Wise Men Say i believe that was adopted in '96 under McMahon's team when it was #1 in the charts,i don't mind it myself.

It got to number one?! There must have been a very barren spell for music in 96 then! Seriously though, as has been said above if we must have that song the Elvis Presley version is far better.

Coventry fans must feel like they've had multiple kicks in the goolies. 10 point deduction, no home ground, asked to pay £25 to watch yesterday and then saw their team squander a good chance to pick up 3 points. Not that I'm complaining. That was an excellent last 20 mins from our players.

Clarke gave us some stick, got some back and seemed to take it well enough. He even did a little wave - nothing abusive - as he went down the tunnel. I still think it's a great pity we didn't get to see more of him in a Town shirt. And I wonder how much that fiasco cost us...

I was unable to get there yesterday but it`s so nice to learn of a good footie game with a decent referee. With so many poor refs spoiling games nowadays it`s only a matter of time before some fans ascertain the name of the referee before deciding whether to go to a match or not ! Well done Coops and the lads !

Hi umpcah Ref was the best I have seen this season had an excellent game and lino's were also good. Ref made just one tiny mistake when he over ruled the linesman on a throw in which 100% came off a Coventry player but was given to them. Fantastic game in which Coventry really should have got something from but Town finished strongly and Storey and Kasim made a massive difference and changed the game. Well done Coops who did have a plan B it seems.

Hi Grim how are you bud Miles took his goal superbly and could have had a hat trick and he played as a striker and not a winger at last. Wasted out on the wing and felt he hit it off with Nile Ranger which should give Cooper plenty to think about. Ranger for me was just awesome and that ball seemed to be stuck to his foot on many occasions.

Ward Hall Troy/McEveley
Thompson Luongo/Kassim Harley/Mason Pritchard Byrne
Ranger Storey
Gives more flexibility at the back and allows Hall to use his natural ability. Plenty of options in midfield so players can be rested/rotated as necessary.
A front two that look like they could be a strong partnership, if we are able to keep Ranger.
To 6 finish still on the cards roll on 2014

What a difference a week makes, and understandably people are a lot happier, and rightly so. I do have a concern though as the managerial sackings gather place. Coopers right hand man, Williams, has had a lot of input this season and I am told is the guy responsible for a lot of skills improvements with some of the team. He is often overlooked but his input is said to be irreplaceable. and I hope he is not a victim of some manager sacking elsewhere in as much he gets lured away from us. I hope he stays with us and that Power recognizes his worth in a positive manner.

In the league, as I said you can replace bad attitude but you can't replace quality.also it didn't look as tho the other players were effected by him being picked, that's why I'm sure cooper decided to play him.
Also like to mention how good the officials were.
Always thought storey would be quality and his finish sent the Townend in to meltdown. Wish Clarke was still with us too.
Just hope the dreaded 4-6-0 has been abolished
We need to attack brentford just like we did wolves away to stand any chance of any result.
Have a great week

Delighted for Yasir and Miles. I called at the beginning of the season Hall and Troy as my preferred Centre Back pairing. Ridiculed obviously but just as I'm the only one not convinced by Massimo yet, I'm hoping against hope to see these two at centre back.

Biggest game of the season for me on boxing day. The muppet Harley Dean and the cheating bar steward Donaldson to hopefully get huge amount of stick, with huge applause for Macca who I have nothing but admiration for despite his move.

Happy Christmas everyone.

The casual posters that support Nile Ranger simply sicken me.

I have NO interest in his forthcoming trial for alleged rape, but prior to that , he was an absolute scumbag and always will be.

What a load of two faced posters you are, just because he scored a few goals, you are as bad as him!!" SCUMBAGS!!

JB, I have a lot of sympathy with your views on Ranger. However, if we comment on a game he's played in, we can't just pretend he wasn't there, can we? And if he plays well, we can't ignore that either. It's an uncomfortable situation for many of us but he's a Town player, the manager selected him yesterday and there's b*gger all we can do about it. It's not so much a question of supporting Ranger as recognising how he's played. I thought he played very well. If I thought his performance was crap, I'd certainly say so.

One option is to boycott games altogether while he remains at the club. I know Steve is doing that. Perhaps you are too. I respect that stance but I won't be doing the same thing.

Hey Grim thanks for that and let me also wish Christmas greetings to you and the family and hope you have a good un mate. Yes agree with your comments and although Rangers off field antics are a problem there is no doubting that he leads our team superbly and without him we look lost. Nile Ranger is pure class on the pitch and what ever fans think of him as a person and off the pitch the fact is he is so crucial to our team and our position in the division.
