TROWBRIDGE Wanderers Reserves and Westwood News who started the day in fourth and third place respectively played out a 4-4 draw at Lambrok Road following an absorbing encounter between two teams flying high in Division Two so far this season.

Westwood to the lead on 18 minutes through Josh Magiure but they were pegged back on the 25th minute when Will Brown set up Will Bayley to score his first of an incredible afternoon of football.

Steve Bryant regained the lead for Westwood who then controversially had a Troy Hawkes goal ruled out for offside. Westwood spurred on by what their thought was a huge wrongdoing added a third just minutes later and it was Hawkes himself who netted for 3-1.

With Westwood seemingly in charge of things they were dealt a cruel blow when they lost keeper Aaron Harford through injury and his replacement Martin Cowdrey's first job in the second half was to pick the ball out of the net after Jack Heard set up Joe Walker for his second goal of the season.

Westwood again took the game by the scruff of the neck and reclaimed a two-goal advantage when Josh Maguire scored his second of the game to put Mark Hurkett’s side 4-2 up.

With the winning line in sight Westwood threw away what looked to be a certain victory, poor defending from a corner allowed Will Bayley to tap home on 85 minutes and deep into stoppage time Bayley completed his hat-trick as with almost the last kick of the game he struck to earned Wanderers a 4-4 draw and deny Westwood the win they believed they deserved.

Heytesbury 3 Bradford United Reserves 1

BRADFORD United Reserves suffered a 3-1 loss at Heytesbury but after taking a first half lead the Bradfordians were undone in the second period by their hosts, who finally found their scoring boots to claim a third win in four games which as helped boost their chances of staying in the division.

Tim Bruton saw his opener for Bradford count for nothing as Heytesbury drew level through Jamie Howse and then took the lead courtesy of Leigh Kennedy who scored direct for a corner for 2-1.

A second from top scorer Kennedy that took his season’s tally to 11 wrapped up three vital points for the villagers.

Trowbridge Town Reserves 15 Bratton 0

WITH Division Two leaders Lacock missing out on a fixture following the recent withdrawal of the Fleece from the league, the chasing pack made the most of their opponents' inactivity with Dave Jenkins' Trowbridge Town Reserves side closed the gap on Lacock to three points.

In the process they boosted their goals for tally thanks to a 15-0 win over a Bratton side who were struggling to raise a team due to injuries and work commitments and could so easily have postponed the fixture but turned up at Woodmarsh as they look to end a troubled season sooner rather than later.

Tom Blaxley opened the scoring for Trowbridge and Mike Stevens, on his debut, completed it but in-between those goals, Zack Manna scored a five-timer, Harry Waylen enhanced his growing reputation with a hat-trick and Ben Jenkins, Natty Mills, Barry Holloway and penalties from Aaron McCaldon and John Wiltshire made up the victors' 15.

Worton & Cheverell 5 Westbury Town 2

AFTER back-to-back defeats Worton & Cheverell made a welcomed to winning ways but did things the hard way before claiming a 5-2 win over Westbury Town.

Westbury opened up a two-goal lead thanks to a delightful lobbed finish from Dan Tugwell that gave him his first goal for the club and a well-executed effort from Levi Wood.

Worton’s fightback began on 38 minutes when Martin Dickinson reduced the arrears and it started to gather pace on the stroke of half time as James Muir squared things up at two each.

After the break it was one-way traffic, but Worton had to wait until the 75th minute before they added their third which came from Tom Mason. A second from Mason in the 82nd minute and Jamie Sandy’s 90th minute strike completed the remarkable turnaround.
