JAZZ Carlin missed out on a medal in the 400m freestyle despite lowering her own Welsh record at the European Short Course Swimming Championships this afternoon.
The Swindonian was sixth in 4:00.92 in Denmark, just ahead of Swindon-born Hannah Miley in seventh (4:03.35).
Carlin's time was more than three seconds quicker than she clocked at the long course World Championships this summer, where she finished fourth.
Spanish star Mireia Bemonte Garcia triumphed in 3:56.14 having initially been on world record pace, with Denmark's Lotte Friis second (3:58.35) and Italy's Federica Pellegrini third (3:58.90).
Carlin, who broke her own 800m Welsh record on Friday, will launch a third and final bid for a medal in Herning tomorrow, when she races in the 200m free.
