NIGEL Clough wants to see his Sheffield United side do their fair share of attacking when they host Town tomorrow.

Since taking over from David Weir at Bramall Lane, the former Derby boss has focused on rebuilding the Blades’ porous defence in a bid to move them away from the League One drop zone.

During his eight games in charge United have picked up four wins and only ended on the losing side twice, but now the former Liverpool, Nottingham Forest and Manchester City player wants to see some more ambition at home.

“It's important to be solid but, equally, we can't just sit back,” he said. “Hopefully we'll be able to attack a little bit more because, in front of our crowd, it's important we do our fair share.

“But we don't want to be kamikaze either. It's all about striking the right balance because of the situation we are in.

“Every single point is going to be valuable to us.

“We don't want the lads to be anxious at home. We appreciate it's always a little bit tenser when you give the ball aware there but the only way we can turn that around is by winning football games.

“So the message is 'Just relax but still be solid'. We've done well lately but we still have to recognise where we are.

“We still have to go out there and show that tough mentality against a good team.”

Striker Jose Baxter has been impressed with Town this season but believes the Blades new-found solidarity under Clough should see them through.

“Swindon are a good team but we want to turn them over and keep moving forward,” he said.

“There’s a really positive feel around the club now and that’s good to see. We’re getting hard to beat with two solid banks of four and hopefully our quality will shine through.

“We’re taking things one match at a time because you can never look too far ahead but, if we perform to our potential, then we should have no one to fear.”
