TOCKENHAM showjumper Jessica Mendoza has qualified for U23 British Championship Final at Olympia next week.

The 17-year-old, part of the UK Sport-funded World Class Development rider programme, will contest the prestigious Dodson & Horrell World Class Programme U23 British Championship Final at the London International Horse Show, Olympia, on Friday, December 20.

Mendoza, who has had a superb season with wins at international and national level, joins the 24-strong final line-up having finished with two horses in the top 14.

The qualifiers were decided via a league table on an accumulation of a combination’s best four results from any of the six qualifying competitions during the 2013 season.

Mendoza qualified with both Classic Highfly and Nuggets L’Amandour, both owned by mum Sarah, but will compete on Classic Highfly at the final.

Rob Hoekstra, Showjumping World Class Performance manager, said: “I’m sure that some of the riders will become a big part of our future and I’m looking forward to working with them.”

Training vouchers to the value of £2,900 will be awarded to the top eight prize-winning riders.
