MOTORCYCLING: Silverstone double for BSB ace Bridewell
THE hard work paid off for Tommy Bridewell as he continued his impressive finish to the British Superbike Championship (BSB) season with a brilliant double-podium weekend at Silverstone last weekend.
The 25-year-old, from Etchilhampton, overcame a testing session last Friday before earning third-placed finishes in both races of the penultimate round of the season.
Bridewell joined his third team of the season last month as he left Bathams Honda to link up with Milwaukee Yamaha and after three podium finishes in two rounds, the Wiltshire speedster says that he wouldn’t be against remaining with Shaun Muir’s factory-backed outfit next season.
“I was very happy with the double-podium because it wasn’t an easy weekend at all,” he said.
“In practice on Friday, the weather conditions were a bit iffy and we were struggling with the pace a little bit. I had to work really hard but we eventually qualified eighth.
“But in race one, I managed to get past PJ (Jacobsen) and finish behind Shakey (Shane Byrne) and Alex (Lowes). In race two, I was pretty comfortable behind those two again and got myself up there again.
“Things have gone well in just two rounds with Milwaukee and Shaun is already talking to me about signing on for next year.
“We’re a factory team and I think that we could be challenging for the title next year so it’s obviously something that I’d be interested in.
“There may be a few other offers that come in though so of course, I’ll be weighing up my options.
“I’m just looking forward to Brands (Hatch) now and trying to finish off with another good weekend.”
Bridewell has secured five podium finishes this season and currently sits eighth overall in the BSB standings.
The final round of the season takes place at Brands Hatch on October 18-20.
