SWINDON TOWN: Cooper backs on-loan Storey to return a stronger player
MARK Cooper feels Miles Storey will return from his loan stint at Salisbury City a stronger player.
The striker joined the Conference outfit on Saturday on a one-month deal and played a significant role in the Whites’ 2-1 victory over Wrexham at the weekend.
Cooper told the Advertiser that there had been no interest in Storey from clubs in League One and League Two and explained why he felt Salisbury is the perfect place for his young forward to continue his development.
“He’s been sat on the bench and we wouldn’t have let him go to anywhere we couldn’t keep a close eye on him,” he said. “He’s down the road, they try to play a similar kind of football to us and we had a discussion with Miles.
“We all felt it was best he went and played four or five games in the month and comes back really fit.
“They play good football, it’s down the road, I know the manager and I know they’ll look after him.
“I think he just wants to play. When we sat down with him the first thing he said was ‘I want games’. That’s a great attitude and he’ll come back stronger for it.”
Salisbury manager Mikey Harris told the club’s official website: “I am always looking to strengthen and add quality to the already strong squad.
“With the injuries that we currently have in the group, Miles will be an excellent addition. I would like to thank the board for allowing me to bring Miles in.”
