SWINDON TOWN: Injured Reis is two weeks away
MARK Cooper expects Tijane Reis to return to training in two weeks following a series of injections on his troublesome knee injury.
The Portuguese winger has not featured for Swindon Town since the 1-0 victory over Stevenage on August 10, and he is due to miss this weekend’s visit of Crewe as well as the trip to MK Dons next Saturday.
However, Cooper has revealed he could return in time to face Wolves on September 14.
“Tijane had some injections last week and it looks as though it’s settled him down quite a lot,” he told the Advertiser.
“We’re hopeful that in a couple of weeks time he should be back in training with us.
“We weren’t fully aware of the extent of the injury until he flagged it up a couple of weeks ago.
“It’s frustrating because he had showed signs of real flair and it’s something we could do with right now.”
Alex Smith is rated “touch and go” for the weekend, meanwhile, after being substituted due to injury during the first half at QPR in midweek.
“Alex Smith got carried off at QPR,” said Cooper. “He’ll be touch and go for Saturday.
“He should training (on Friday), it was just an impact injury on his shin. We’re hopeful he will be under consideration for Saturday.”
