SPORT: Cycle ride to Paris will boost Bag4Sport funds
9:00am Friday 16th August 2013 in Sport
Cyclists from Gazette & Herald charity of the year Bag4Sport Foundation will leave Devizes Market Place on Saturday for a fundraising ride to Paris.
The team will leave from outside the Bear Hotel at 9am and friends and supporters will gather to send them off on their journey that will end in Paris on August 19.
Bag4Sport director Andy Trusler, who will be leading the ride for the third year, said: “It is always a fun event and helps us to raise money for grass root sport and awareness of the need to support sport at all levels. It is quite a testing ride but we are all looking forward to it.”
If you would like to sponsor riders call (01380) 727273, email email@example.com or donate by text to 70070 quoting BAGS44.
Tickets are now on sale for a cabaret evening at The Bear on October 12 which will feature Elvis impersonator Garry J Foley and magician Mark Pearce.
Just over a week later, on October 20, Bag4Sport will be involved in the Devizes Half Marathon which this year is being held in support of the foundation.
Money raised from all these events will help provide grants for grass root sports and the Gazette Stars of Tomorrow winners.
Gazette readers will have a chance to vote for their favourites for this contest in coming weeks.
Shortlisted candidates from each of the Gazette edition areas will be featured after judges including Devizes MP Claire Perry and Devizes mayor Pete Smith have met to whittle down numbers.
