LOCKERIDGE youngster Alicia Boyer is hoping she’s skimming towards her dream of competing at the Olympics after earning a place on the NISA (National Ice Skating Association of Britain and Northern Ireland) development team.
The nine-year-old, who goes to Kennet Valley School, trains six days a week in Swindon and Oxford and has been earmarked as a star of the future after a host of podium finishes in recent national competitions.
“I’m very happy about getting in,” said Alicia, a NISA Level Five figure skater who regularly competes against girls as old as 15.
“I train almost every day and I love the feeling of gliding across the ice and doing jumps too.
“One day, I’d love to be at the Olympics or at the worlds – I just love skating.”
Mum Nina said: “She’s skated since she was young and she’s absolutely mad for it.
“It’s very expensive though, with the cost of equipment and travelling around – her skates cost around £500 and she’s growing all the time.”
