GOALKEEPER Wes Foderingham admitted Swindon Town could have no complaints following their woeful 1-0 defeat away at Doncaster.

Town failed to register a shot on target at the Keepmoat Stadium in a game the home side dominated, and they were made to pay with 10 minutes to go as Jamie McCombe powered in a header from a corner to seal the points.

Foderingham believes Town may have been worthy of a point, but refused to blame the difficult pitch and swirling wind for their defeat.

“We never got going and I don’t think we registered a shot on target, and the pitch was difficult which didn’t make it easy for us but we can’t use that as an excuse,” he said.

“We have played on some terrible pitches during this period and played on worse and still won, but we need to be brave and get on the ball and pass it in these conditions and we just didn’t do that.

“I wouldn’t say they deserved to win, and we definitely didn’t deserve to win, and although 0-0 would have been a fair result I don’t think we can argue with a 1-0 loss because they had more shots on target than we did.

“It was one of those days where conditions didn’t help and we knew there would be a few mistakes, but we had a couple of good build-ups which didn’t result in shots on goal which made things difficult for us.

“We need to do better in the remaining games if we are going to stand a chance of going up, and we need to be more clinical.”

The defeat leaves Town seven points adrift of Rovers, but Foderingham still believes the Robins are capable of forcing their way into the automatic promotion places.

“Hopefully things start going our way and teams around us help us out and drop points to make up for us dropping points,” he said.

“There are five games left and 15 points up for grabs, and if they slip up we can. It gets difficult when teams start getting nervous, and I genuinely believe we can still get into those automatic spots if we win all five.

“Sheffield United is a massive game for us because we are around them in the league, and if we can go to MK Dons first and get a win it will put us in good stead to go there and get three points.”
