Notts County game to go ahead

Town fans worked through the night to clear the pitch in January Town fans worked through the night to clear the pitch in January

SWINDON Town's game with Notts County will go ahead as planned today, but the club are asking fans for help to remove a dusting of snow from the pitch.

Snow in Swindon overnight has turned the County Ground an the surrounding areas white, but groundsman Marcus Cassidy has declared the surface is fit for play.

The areas around the ground are safe for fans, but the club are asking any fans able to get down to the ground with brushes to lend their support.

There is no need for wheelbarrows or shovels as there was earlier in the season, where an army of fans, and former manager Paolo Di Canio, worked through the night to clear several inches of snow from the pitch.

My mate just phoned from the ground, there are currently only four people working on the pitch and they could do with a couple more. Unfortunately I cant get there until 11.30.
Anyone living closer get your brush and get down there , they'd like to get it cleared sooner rather than later.

I think the champions of this division will have the lowest point tally for a few years. 89 / 90 will be the winning target I reckon but a lower one will possibly get there, runners up may make it with 85.
It's gonna be tighter than it has been for many a while.
It's in our hands , beat the promotion rivals and it's all ours. Come on lads you can do it !

Great news, was a bit worried first thing.

Hopefully the fans will get behind the team for the whole game today as kmac has asked. No doubt the negativity from the crowd has contributed to the poor home results recently so lets try positivity for a change!

I got interviewed by TV after Yeovil game. It was exciting game. We started to get on top towards the end of the first half. We were the stronger team in second half. They started fouling a lot.
Weather update please just leaving Poole

Agree about 85 would prob win it, and anywhere in ealry 80's would have decent shout for ru. A lot depends on the games between the top sides, the '6' pointers. How we fare against Donny and Sheffield are pretty key, a win against Donny and a draw with sheffield and i think we'd win it, would settle for 2 draws though! COYR

I'm a bit higher on 87 to win the league as someone will get their act together and edge ahead of the pack but 2nd - 3rd place!?..84-83?
...
Given the photo I just can't believe how bloomin dark it is in Swindon and looks more than just a dusting of snow!?
.
....hang on!!!...wait a minute....is that you know who in the beanie!?...lot brighter here in RWB and all the snow melted now.
.
Raging sore throat and thumping head cold so am now missing my 3rd home game on the trot! Being self-employed I can't afford not to be at work on Monday with 2 bank holidays approaching....be listening on the radio AGAIN!!.... :-(
.
Really hacked off now!

Just got back from the County Ground, done my bit brushing snow off the pitch. A pathetic showing from town fans helping. About 30-40 people helping with 75% of them stewards!

Any old excuse not to go to a game. I don't know. I planned my 'manflu' in between games. I don't think that cold night at Brentford did me a lot of good though.
Hope you feel better soon sapf.

I was there till 11pm earlier in the season clearing snow.

I & all the other volunteers had an e mail the next day thanking us for our hard work & saying they would be in touch with another thank-you.
Guess what? I never heard anymore from them!!!! STFC Public Relations, maybe that's why not many bothered today!

Good luck to the team today.

Surely the knowledge that you helped out and got the game to go ahead was enough?
