Determined duo run to Yeovil for charity

Adam Wainwright is running to Yeovil
WHEN the faithful Swindon fans settle down to watch tomorrow night’s televised game with Yeovil from the comfort of their own homes or at the pub, club employee Adam Wainwright will have just completed an amazing feat of endurance to travel to watch his team play.
The marketing and promotions executive along with Kiss Gym personal trainer Corrinne Davis yesterday began a 67-mile run from the County Ground to Yeovil’s Huish Park, all in the aid of the club’s chosen charity, the Wiltshire Air Ambulance.
The pair set off through Wroughton and Devizes on day one yesterday where they hoped to cover 25 miles, and after aiming to do the same again today they are set to arrive in time to watch Kevin MacDonald’s men in action against their promotion rivals tomorrow.
Wainwright is no stranger to putting his body through the mill to raise vital funds, having previously cycled to Football League grounds as well as climbing Mount Toubkal in Morocco in September, and is pleased to have been able to do his bit once again.
“There will be a fair few people thinking, ‘crikey, that’s a bit of a momentous challenge’, but it’s all in aid of the Wiltshire Air Ambulance which is the club’s charity of the year,” he said.
“In September I climbed Mount Toubkal, and I was so inspired by the people I climbed with because they had either lost loved ones or the air ambulance had saved people very close to them, and I just thought I wanted to do other things for them.
“I have cycled to various grounds before and I just removed the bike to run this time, and hopefully we can raise awareness and the profile as well as a bit of money.
“I’ve always enjoyed my running and played a good standard of football, and always looked after myself and tried to run, although Corrinne lives in the gym.
“We joked that I was going to be Rocky and she would be Ivan Drago, because she has everything to hand while I’m chasing a chicken at the back of the County Ground.
“We have looked at it and analysed it and put in a lot of miles, but there will be plenty of pain barrier to go through before we get there.
“There will be some hills of course, and we are going to try and avoid the Mendips, but it will be tough for both of us.”
The former County Ground ballboy believes clubs like Swindon Town have a duty to give back to their community, and is happy to be able to help the club fulfill it’s duty.
“I’ve always believed the football club should be a beacon and a flagship for the community, and it should connect in whatever way it can through junior football, youth groups, and charity.
“There are really good local causes out there we can help with, and the first charity I became involved in was the Swindon Down’s Syndrome Group.
“Since then I try and raise the profile and money in whatever way I can, and I think it’s also good for the football club.”

I walked from RWB to Yeovil in three days for charity last summer as part of my walk to Lympstone in Devon.I can't run anymore due to dodgy joints. Sad thing is I didn't lose any weight either .

Adam, if you're reading this, my Dad Harry (who you visited in GWH recently) would be very proud of you.
Good luck!
